On Tuesday, the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District responded to a report of a vegetation fire at the old golf course in the City of Pittsburg.
The fire broke out around 5:11 pm in the area of Bodega Ct & Bodega Dr, but upon firefighter arrival, the location was changed to Golf Club Road. At the time, the fire was estimated at approximately 1 acre before quickly increasing to 3 acres in size which sent a large column of smoke into the air within the City of Pittsburg.
By 6:00 pm, the fire was contained with forward progress stopped. CONFIRE said the fire was limited to approximately 5 acres in size. No other details on the incident was available. Fire crews remained on scene for several hours to work on hot spots.
