The Pittsburg Police Department is seeking assistance in identifying a suspect observed vandalizing multiple police vehicles.
According to police, they are asking for the community to assist them in identifying a man who entered the patrol vehicles parked in the unsecured rear lot on Davi Avenue just before 5:30 pm. The male, who is described as Hispanic, was observed on surveillance footage, riding a silver and black bicycle and wearing a fluorescent green long-sleeve shirt. The suspect approached from Power Avenue, entered the lot, and threw large rocks at the windshields of both the MLK and Pittsburg High School Resource Patrol vehicles, causing severe damage. He then rode away northbound on Davi Avenue, possibly entering City Park. Officers have reviewed city surveillance and canvassed the area, but the suspect remains unidentified.
They are asking anyone who lives nearby or was in the area to check home or business security footage around that time. If you have any information or video that could help identify this individual, please contact Detective Simpson at (925) 252-4805.
At the time of this incident, Contra Costa County Fire Protection District and Pittsburg Police were on scene of a 5-acre vegetation fire at the old golf course.
