PITTSBURG, CA – To help students prepare for their return to the classroom this fall, Mt. Diablo Resource Recovery (“MDRR”) and the Pittsburg Police Department invite everyone to attend its annual Back to School Supply Giveaway on July 19 from 9:00 AM – 2 PM at 65 Civic Avenue in Pittsburg. Now in its sixth year, this annual giveaway is extremely popular. To ensure every child gets a backpack, reservations are a must, and up to 4 children per family. All children must be present.
“My favorite aspect of this event is hearing from kids and parents that they were able to gather items they need to start the new school year without spending any money,” says MDRR CEO Kish Rajan. “The fact that we are getting these items into the hands of people who can use them instead of sending more items to the landfill matches our company’s philosophy.” Among the many ways MDRR stands apart from other environmental services companies are its high diversion rate and its deep commitment to reuse.

Throughout the year, the MDRR Reuse Team works hard to gather a variety of pre-owned school supplies, which are later redistributed through the company’s network of more than 20 partnering nonprofit organizations and during this annual community event. Due to popular demand, MDRR is partnering the Pittsburg Police Department to ensure we have a backpack for every child who signs up. A parent or guardian must accompany minors under 18.
