Upcoming Fourth of July 5K Races and More

On July 4, there will be six 5K races around Contra Costa County, followed by a 5K race in Richmond, CA on July 27. Here is the rundown of the upcoming 5K races.


July 4 – Orinda Run for a Reason: The 2025 Fourth of July Run For a Reason will be a 2-mile or 5-mile run/walk, starting and finishing in front of the Orinda Community Center. This race is in support of the Sudden Unexplained Death in Childhood Foundation (SUDC.org) and will be hosted by the Frey Family in memory of their son, Wesley, who passed at 17 months old. Registration for this year’s event will be $30 through RunSignUp.com and available on the day of. – more info


July 4 – Rodeo Hercules Dynamite: This year’s Rodeo Hercules 4th of July 5K Run/Walk will be presented by the HRC Rotary Club. It will start July 4th at 9am and will take place along the Northern portion of the San Francisco Bay Trail from Parker Ave in Rodeo to the exchange in Hercules and back. This event is limited to 250 entrants. Registration is $50 up to 8:30 AM July 4. – more info


July 4 – Brentwood Liberty Bell: This is the second annual Liberty High School Band 5k.  All proceedings from this event will directly benefit the Liberty High School marching band, jazz band, concert programs, winter percussion and winter guard programs. This year’s event will be both in person and/or a virtual run. For the in person, the race will begin at Veterans Park and participants will run on the Marsh Creek Trail through Creekside Park and beyond for an out and back.  The race will commence at 7:30 a.m. – more info


July 4 – Pleasant Hill Firecracker: This year’s Pleasant Hill Firecracker 5K is presented by Jack’s and all proceedings from this event will go to Pleasant Hill schools. The race begins at 8 a.m. at the start line on Gregory Lane and after 3 laps around Downtown, the finish line is on Crescent Dr.  You can register at the race the day of the event. Early bib pick-up is on Sunday, June 29th, 11am-3pm at Jack’s Restaurant in Downtown Pleasant Hill. – more info


July 4 – Run San Ramon: The 2025 Run San Ramon presented by the City of San Ramon is celebrating its 40th year and features 5K and 10K events, as well as the fastest mile. Registration options include online, mail in, or in person at packet pick up on July 3rd from 1:00pm-5:00pm at Sports Basement San Ramon.  Online registration will remain open through July 3rd. The race start and finish line is at 12501 Alcosta Blvd, San Ramon, CA. – more info


July 4 – Concord Stars and Stripes: This year’s race is organized by Brazen Racing and part of the proceeds will benefit Ainsley’s Angels and their mission to provide race chairs to disabled persons. Registration will be available the day of, unless the race is sold out prior to. The race begins at 8:15 a.m. and the start and finish line is on Salvio St near Grant St. – more info


July 27 – We Run Richmond: This is the ninth annual We Run Richmond 5K, organized by Moving Forward. The goal of this year’s event is to raise $50,000 which will directly supports our vital

community programs—such as the Scholarship Program and Back-to-School Giveaway. The course starts at Marina Bay Park and participants will follow a flat, out-and-back route along the shoreline, covering 1.55 miles to the turnaround point, before heading back. – more info
