The Oakley Police Department reported they arrested a juvenile with a firearm after a short pursuit, however, upon taking him into custody he was denied acceptance to juvenile hall.
On June 28, 2025 at 7:52PM Officer Hernandez was on patrol in the 500 block of O’Hara Avenue when a male rider on a green dirt bike style motorcycle rode past him while not wearing a helmet and while not displaying a license plate on the motorcycle.
Officer Hernandez made a U-Turn in an attempt to stop the motorcycle, but the rider accelerated at a high rate of speed for a short distance and used the parking lot/fuel pump area of the Power Market at O’Hara Avenue and Main Street to double back onto Acme Street. Officer Hernandez saw the rider ducking behind a vehicle in the 200 block of Acme Street in an attempt to hide.
He made contact with the rider and took him into custody for his actions. Officer Hernandez also determined the rider had an unloaded and unmarked/un-serialized semi-automatic “ghost” pistol concealed in his sweatshirt.
Oakley Police placed the rider under arrest for weapon charges and determined he was only 17 years old. The juvenile offender was not accepted by Juvenile Hall.
Instead, the juvenile offender was issued a citation, charging him with: possession of a concealed firearm, possession of a firearm as a minor and possession of a “ghost” gun.
The juvenile offender was ultimately released to his father.
