The Brentwood Police Department announced that Devondre James, of Brentwood, has been charged for indecent exposure, sexual battery, and obstructing, delaying a police officer.

According to the police department, On June 30th, around 8:00 PM, Brentwood officers responded to a business located in the 2400 block of Sand Creek Road for a report of lewd behavior.

During the investigation, officers determined that 22-year-old Devondre James of Brentwood had exposed himself and committed sexual battery against two victims while inside the business. James fled the scene before officers arrived; however, video surveillance footage was obtained. One of our officers was able to positively identify James as the suspect.

In the early morning hours of July 1st, one of our officers located James near his residence. When the officer attempted to detain James he fled on foot, but was taken into custody shortly after.

James is linked to a second, unrelated incident within Brentwood.

James, who is currently on Post Release Community Supervision (PRCS), also had three outstanding warrants (from multiple counties) for a variety of unrelated charges.

On Thursday, the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office filed formal charges against James for Indecent Exposure, Sexual Battery, and Obstructing/Delaying a Police Officer. As of Thursday (7/3/25) James remains in custody.

Police say they were releasing James’ photo to potentially identify any additional victims or witnesses who may have experienced or observed similar incidents with James. If you have any information, please contact the Police Department at 925-809-7911.
