A Sunday night shooting has shut down the Antioch and Pittsburg BART stations according to BART.
According to preliminary information, multiple gunshots were heard around 8:15 pm Sunday at the Antioch BART Station that left at least one person shot with multiple gunshot wounds. Antioch Police Department responded along with Contra Costa County Fire Protection District. At least one person was transported to an area hospital.
By 8:52 pm, BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) said the Antioch and Pittsburg Center stations were closed. Antioch and Pittsburg Center stations are closed and there is no service between Pittsburg/Baypoint and Antioch due to police activity. Passengers must seek alternate transportation for service between Pittsburg/Baypoint and Antioch stations.
Via BART Fare Evaders: According to preliminary information, 5 to 6 shots were fired. The injured person was in the crosswalk, two males involved who were believed to have firearms. It was stated a bus driver had called into police stating a male was shot and a firearm was visible. At the time of the shooting, the suspects were parked in the bus zone.
