After a spike in crime in 2024, early crime data for 2025 shows a major reduction in crime within the city of Antioch and is returning to the 5-year average.
According to the Antioch Police Department, they released crime data for the first half of 2025 when compared to 2024 which showed the following:
- Homicide: Down 71%
- Robbery: Down 44%
- Burglary: Down 41%
- Theft: Down 38%
- Auto Theft: Down 35%
This comes as 2024 Antioch crime data shows record homicide and vehicle thefts. Antioch data going back to 2005, the city of Antioch had a two decade high in murders at 16 where the previous highs of 12 occurred in 2013 and 2021. In 2023, they had 10 murders. They saw a record high in motor vehicle theft in 2024 with a total of 1,683 which was 438 more than in 2023.

Underreporting of Crime
It is unclear just how much of an impact underreporting of crime is having on the crime data — not reporting an incident. With a reduce number of officers and a push towards online reporting, its not known what crimes are not being reported by residents in 2025. Several residents have complained in recent months of officers not responding and many have stated they simply have not filed a report because “nothing would happen”.
