LAFAYETTE, Calif. – On July 26th, at approximately 4:15AM, officers assigned to the California Highway Patrol’s (CHP) Contra Costa Area office responded to a solo vehicle crash which occurred on State Route 24 (SR-24) eastbound, just west of Pleasant Hill Rd., in the city of Lafayette.
Our preliminary investigation indicates a black Toyota sedan, solely occupied by a male adult driver, was traveling on SR-24 eastbound, just west of Pleasant Hill Rd. For reasons still under investigation, the Toyota veered off the right shoulder and crashed into multiple trees south of the roadway.
Tragically, the driver sustained fatal injuries, and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
It is still under investigation whether DUI was a factor.
