Lafayette Auto Burglary Suspects Arrested in Stockton

On Tuesday, August 12, 2025, Lafayette police detectives were in the city of Stockton looking for a stolen vehicle that was associated with suspects who were wanted for committing multiple auto burglaries in Lafayette in July.

The detectives located the stolen car and notified the Delta Regional Auto Theft Task Force Team (Delta RATT) which consists of law enforcement officers from Stockton, Tracy, Manteca, San Joaquin Sheriff’s Office and California Highway Patrol. Delta RATT spotted the vehicle which led the officers on a pursuit. The suspect fled on foot and barricaded herself in an apartment. Officers later arrested the suspect and another person when they exited the apartment. Both were booked into the San Joaquin County Jail:

25-year-old Leticia Fernandez, Oakland

  • Charges: vehicle theft, possession of stolen property, evading a peace officer, obstructing/resisting a public officer, conspiracy, and probation violation.
  • Fernandez is being held without bail.
29-year-old Jose Luis Barajas Avalos, Oakland
  • Charges: vehicle theft, possession of stolen property, obstructing/resisting a public officer, conspiracy, and probation violation.
  • Barajas Avalos is being held without bail.
The investigation is ongoing. Fernandez and Barajas Avalos are also suspects in other crimes in the Bay Area.
