To complete critical bridge maintenance and upgrades, Caltrans will fully close southbound Appian Way Overcrossing in Pinole for two weekends (55 hours each). Additional nighttime lane and ramp closures will also occur in the area.
Most work must take place without live traffic to ensure the safety of workers and motorists.
Nighttime construction is expected to continue through Spring 2026.
Please note all work is subject to change due to weather or scheduling constraints.

Time: 9:00 PM Friday – 4:00 AM Monday
Direction: Southbound Only
- Full closure of the Southbound Appian Way Overcrossing (Pinole)
- Pedestrian and bicycle access will remain available with detours
in place
Nightly Lane Closures
When: Monday through Thursday
Hours: 7:00 PM – 5:00 AM
- One lane in the southbound direction will remain open during nighttime work

Last week, CALTRANS completed is work on Northbound I-680 in Fremont 15.5 hours ahead of schedule. Northbound Interstate 680 has re-opened at 2:30 PM, Sunday August 10, more than 15.5 hours ahead of schedule, after Caltrans successfully completed operations at the Northbound I-680/Mission San Jose Separation Overpass in the City of Fremont.
