Chief Beard said: “An incredible amount of teamwork, by community members and law-enforcement officers alike, went into the successful apprehension of the suspect in this case. I am identifying the suspect in this case as Tanginoa Tangi, a 25-year-old male resident of Hayward. The victim in this case had just returned home and he was getting out of his vehicle when Tangi shot him several times.”
Despite the successful apprehension of Tangi, police are still seeking the assistance of the community. They are asking for any home surveillance videos showing Tangi and his dark blue 2021 Ford F-150 (see photo of actual vehicle) in the area of Trenton Street prior to 3:13 AM. Police are also asking for any home surveillance videos showing Tangi and his truck between the time of the shooting at 3:13 AM and the time the Sheriff’s Office first saw Tangi in Knightsen at 3:20 AM.
Police are not sure of the exact routes Tangi traveled during this seven-minute time period Any relevant video files may be emailed to us at [email protected] . Please address the email to the attention of Detective Dombrouski and reference case number, 25-1568.
“Finally, I would like to acknowledge the teamwork that is consistently exhibited between the law-enforcement agencies of East Contra Costa County, specifically the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office and the Antioch Police Department in this case. I also sincerely appreciate the brave efforts of the community members who not only reported this dangerous incident, but also had the presence of mind to take note of key factors such as the vehicle description. This information allowed us to do a component of our job so other law-enforcement officers could do their job- thank you all… As always, if something else develops in this case worth noting, I will be sure to report that back out to the community,” said Chief Beard.
