PITTSBURG, California – With just days to go, Supervisor Shanelle Scales-Preston is excited to share new updates for the 2025 Youth Summit, taking place Saturday, September 20, 2025, from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM at Los Medanos College (2700 E. Leland Rd., Pittsburg, CA).
Hosted by Supervisor Shanelle Scales-Preston, the Youth Summit continues the legacy of the late Supervisor Federal Glover and his vision to empower local youth. Under her leadership, this year’s summit is shaping up to be one of the most engaging yet — bringing together students, families, educators, and community partners for a full day of learning, inspiration, and celebration.
Event Highlights
- Keynote Speakers: Dr. Julia Garcia, Nicki Joiner, and EJ Carrion will deliver inspiring talks on emotional wellness, leadership, and preparing for the future.
- Interactive Workshops: Covering self-discovery, digital wellness, financial literacy, social advocacy, entrepreneurship, and career readiness.
- Career & College Resources: Access to apprenticeships, training programs, and higher education opportunities.
- Entertainment & Activities: Live DJ, cultural performances, lunchtime games, and raffle prizes (including AirPods, GoPro, and an iPad Air).
Parent Participation: Parents are warmly invited to join their children for workshops, keynote presentations, the resource fair, and a full day of connection.

The Youth Summit is free and open to all students in grades 6–12, with lunch provided for attendees.
