National Coffee with a Cop Day, which is scheduled for October 1, is a day dedicated to encourage communication and positive interactions between law enforcement agencies and the public. Some agencies in Contra Costa County will be hosting events in the month of October.
The day began as part of National Community Policing Week in 2016 and now continues each year on the first Wednesday in October furthering efforts nationwide to bridge the gap between the community and the law.
Here is a rundown of upcoming Coffee With the Cops events around Contra Costa County:
October 1
- Lafayette Police: Drop by the Lafayette Community Center for coffee and treats and visit with staff from the Lafayette Police Department from 10:30 to 11:30am. Hear about the latest scams being reported in the area and learn about ways to keep yourself and your family safe. Discuss issues impacting our community and share conversation and questions in this informal coffee hour. Held in the Elderberry Room at the Lafayette Community Center (500 St. Mary’s Road). Hosted by the Lafayette Senior Services program.
- Martinez Police: Enjoy coffee with Martinez Police from 8:00 am to 10:00 am for Coffee with a Cop at Starbucks located in the Nob Hill Center. Sip, chat, connect with your local Martinez Police Officers.
- Pittsburg Police: Enjoy coffee and chat with local officers from the Pittsburg PD in a relaxed setting. This event encourages community connection without agendas. Event is from 9:30–11:00 a.m. at Steel Town Coffee & Tea, 695 Railroad Ave., Downtown Pittsburg.
- Walnut Creek Police: Come enjoy a relaxed and friendly morning with your Walnut Creek PD officers, dispatchers, and professional staff, to connect over good conversation and coffee. We hope to see you there! At Tellus Coffee at 1410 N Main Street from 9:30 am to 11:30 am.
October 21
- Danville Police: Join us for a friendly meet up at Bagel Street Cafe in the Livery on Tuesday, October 21, 2025 at Bagel Street Café (316 Sycamore Valley Rd). Come grab a coffee and a bagel, ask questions and get to know the officers serving your community.
