Choice in Aging will be hosting their 8th Annual Bedford Block Party — proudly presented by PG&E, The Bedford Family, and Kaiser Permanente — on Saturday, October 25 from 2-5 PM at the beautiful and historic home of Diane Gibson-Gray and Ken Gray in Antioch.
Get ready for an unforgettable afternoon at this exclusive VIP sponsorship celebration, a highlight of the year and a must-attend for anyone who loves a good time! The event brings together community members, supporters, and friends for an afternoon packed with fun and festivity. Dance along to upbeat tunes spun by crowd-favorite DJ Chuck Waterhouse, savor a mouthwatering Mexican feast, sip on cool and refreshing drinks, and join the excitement of Ken’s famous annual bocce ball tournament—a centerpiece of the party that keeps everyone coming back year after year. Ken’s passion for bocce sets the tone for an entertaining competition where teams face off for the perpetual trophy, with past winners returning to defend their bragging rights. The tournament is always lively, welcoming both seasoned pros and first-time players to enjoy the thrill of the game. Whether you’re perfecting your throw or rallying cheers from the sidelines, bocce is a fantastic way to connect and share laughs. Celebrate with us as we honor each year’s champions and create new memories in the spirit of friendly rivalry, laughter, and lasting camaraderie!
The Bedford Block Party not only offers a chance to celebrate but also provides an opportunity to support the impactful work of Choice in Aging. Sponsorships are available for those who want to become VIPs and help sustain the organization’s mission of serving older adults and individuals with disabilities.
Honoring Contra Costa County Supervisor Federal Glover
This year’s event carries a special significance as Choice in Aging honors the late, beloved Supervisor Federal Glover. Glover was a tireless advocate for seniors and individuals with disabilities, remembered for his warmth, vision, and steadfast support of community programs.
“Supervisor Glover was always a warm and welcoming presence throughout the more than two decades I spent urging the Transportation Authority to prioritize services for seniors and people with disabilities. He was one of the few who truly listened and lifted voices that had long been silenced. He never turned his back on seniors. In fact, he played a key role in helping Choice in Aging repurchase The Bedford Center for the same dollar for which it had been sold to the City of Antioch. With his leadership, we transformed what was once a volunteer-run social program into the only licensed Adult Day Health Care center serving East Contra Costa County. Supervisor Glover was a kind ally to elders and Choice in Aging, and we miss him dearly.” – Debbie Toth, Choice in Aging President & CEO
