On Wednesday, October 15, Supervisor Diane Burgis distributed Measure X Park and Recreation Funds specific to District 3 in partnership with Contra Costa County Public Works.
These funds were allocated to support Park & Recreation programs within the unincorporated communities. Unincorporated communities are populated areas that do not have standalone own municipal governments, such as a city or town council. Instead, they are governed by the county in which it is located and receives basic services like law enforcement, zoning, and road maintenance from the county government. These communities can be within a larger incorporated area or exist completely separate from any city. It may come as news that there are several throughout the county. The beautiful unincorporated communities of District 3 are Bethel Island, Byron, Discovery Bay, and Knightsen.
According to Supervisor Burgis, they started the day early and visited with these groups who were recommended and selected to receive these funds because of their contribution and commitment to the communities they serve. she added the work is not over and this is just the beginning of their journey.
“I am so grateful we were able to provide for them in this way. Look out for their work in your area. I am confident they have big plans,” said Burgis. “Thank you to all who do this great work, and a special thank you and congratulations to our District 3 recipients.”
