The Hercules Police Department report that expired registration of a vehicle led to an arrest of a man wanted by police, and discovery of drugs.
According to police, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop on a burgundy 2011 Kia Sorento near the westbound Interstate 80 on-ramp from John Muir Parkway for expired registration. The driver, 32 year old female subject of Hercules, was clear of wants/warrants and had a non-issued driver’s license status.
However, the front passenger, 48 year old male subject of Richmond, was found to have an active warrant held by the San Mateo Police Department. The male initially provided officers with a false name. A probable cause Health and Safety search of the vehicle was conducted, and suspected methamphetamine was found on the male’s person. A bag containing various controlled substances, including suspected Cocaine, black tar Heroin, Fentanyl, Xanax, Percocet, and Ecstasy, was located in the trunk of the vehicle. The male was arrested on scene. A licensed driver responded to take possession of the vehicle.
No other information was released on the incident and police did not identify the man arrested.
ALPR Hit Leads to Arrest
In a separate incident back on October 15, Hercules Officers received a Flock Safety ALPR (Automated License Plate Reader) for a black 2015 Lexus IS 350 reported stolen to the San Pablo Police Department on October 2, 2025. Officers located the Lexus in the area of Pheasant Dr and Raven Ct with multiple occupants outside of the vehicle near another Lexus. As the suspects observed marked patrol units, the vehicle fled down Pheasant Dr at a high rate of speed. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle with stop sticks, which was unsuccessful. CHP Air was in the area as the stolen Lexus entered westbound I-80 at a high rate of speed. HPD officers disengaged and did not pursue the stolen vehicle and broadcasted a BOLO to CHP. HPD officers returned to Pheasant Dr and located a 2015 Lexus IS 250 with a shattered sunroof parked on the east curbline in the 1900 block of Pheasant Dr. The registered owner of the Lexus was contacted on scene. It did not appear the suspects made entry into the vehicle as the attempted vehicle theft was interrupted by HPD officers. CHP later pursued the suspect vehicle in San Mateo County, where three of the four occupants were apprehended following a collision and foot bail from the stolen Lexus.
