This week, there are plenty of Thanksgiving Day 5k Turkey Trots to select from around Contra Costa County and the San Francisco Bay Area. Whether it be a 5k or a 10k run, there are plenty of options. Have also included a couple Holiday runs scheduled in December.
Bishop Ranch Turkey Trot (San Ramon)
Join us — rain or shine — on Thanksgiving Day for the Bishop Ranch Turkey Trot! We will gather in our new start area immediately adjacent to Bishop Ranch City Center in San Ramon for a run around the lakes and gardens. These are chip-timed races on a flat course that has both pavement and packed dirt. Come and run or cheer. Or both! Costumes are welcome, so break out your turkey suit, and let’s go! There are two events:
- The Turkey Trot is a 5k race that you can run, jog, or walk. Whether you’re a steely competitor or just looking to walk with your family, this is for you. Finish with a smile on your face! This starts at 8:30am.
- The TINY Turkey starts at 9:30 am and is a short run for children under 5. This is a 50-yard dash that’s very fun. Get your camera/cell phone ready!
- Bishop Ranch Turkey Trot is a Learning is Open event. Learning is Open is a 501c3 non-profit.

The event will take place at Newhall Park on Thanksgiving, Thursday, November 27, 2025, at 8 AM. For the safety and enjoyment of all participants, registration for this event is capped at 1,850 participants. Everyone participating in the 5K run/walk course must have a paid registration, with the exception of children 2 years old and under, who will be in a stroller for the duration of the event. The course includes varied terrain, including grass fields, park pathways, and city streets. Those participating with strollers or pets will be asked to enter at the back of the start area so as not to impede those wishing to race for time. All 5K Run/Walk Participants will receive a tech t-shirt and a medal! The race will take place rain or shine. Once your registration has been paid, there are no refunds. This includes inclement weather or any other reason, such as injuries or personal emergencies. More info + Sign up: Click Here
Moraga Turkey Trot
Please join the Moraga Chamber of Commerce on Thanksgiving morning for the annual Moraga Turkey Trot! Trot your way out to the cart path at Moraga Country Club wearing your favorite zany costume, activewear or PJs! You can push a pram, set up a run squad or saunter solo, but just be sure to bring your community spirit!
The morning will include “unofficial” timed 5K and 1.5m races, awards for best Thanksgiving-themed costume and speediest turkey, as well as random bib number draws to earn prizes from local businesses. Runners, walkers and lollygaggers of all ages are welcome!
Advance registration is required. Unfortunately, we cannot take registrations on-site. Registrants receive a T-shirt (sizes & tees not guaranteed – see registration details), a numbered running bib and goodies, while they last! Participants will check the digital timer at START/FINISH for self-timing. Come enjoy this wholesome tradition and celebrate Thanksgiving morning together! You do not need to be a member of the Chamber or the Country Club to participate.
