WALNUT CREEK — The Diablo Regional Arts Association (DRAA), nonprofit partner of the Lesher Center for the Arts, has added three new members to its growing Board of Directors: Matthew Leachman, Ann Notarangelo and Emily Wu. Representing communities across the Diablo Region, they bring experience in business, community relations and arts advocacy that will help guide the Association in expanding access to exceptional arts experiences.

Though distinct in their professional paths, Leachman, Notarangelo and Wu all share a long-standing commitment to community engagement. Matthew Leachman, CEO and president of Friedmans Appliance, joined the Board to connect his employees and business network with DRAA programs, particularly the renowned Headliners Series. “The arts bring people together in ways few other things can,” said Leachman. “I’m fortunate to have a hand in creating experiences that color and strengthen our community.”

A familiar face in Contra Costa County, Community Relations Manager Ann Notarangelo at Martinez Refining Company, has been a key partner in DRAA’s Lesher Center in Your Neighborhood initiative, helping bring performing artists into Martinez schools and community spaces. “I’ve seen firsthand how meaningful arts experiences can be for young people and their families,” she said. “I’m honored to support an organization that ensures those experiences aren’t just occasional opportunities, but part of an ongoing arts presence in our community.”

Rounding out the new appointments, Senior Vice President and Managing Director Emily Wu at Five Star Bank has been a DRAA supporter for more than 15 years through the On Broadway Gala and Business Leaders for the Arts. Her background in regional banking and community development provides her with insights into how the arts strengthen local economies and civic engagement. “It’s simple,” said Wu. “When businesses and arts organizations collaborate, everyone benefits.”

“Each of these new members embodies the DRAA’s belief that the arts thrive when our entire community is represented,” said DRAA Executive Director Peggy White. “Their leadership and passion will help us continue building connections between local businesses, schools and the arts community across Contra Costa County.”

The Diablo Regional Arts Association is the nonprofit partner of the Lesher Center for the Arts, dedicated to enriching programs and expanding access to exceptional performances, exhibitions, and arts education.
