Richmond Police Seek Person of Interest in Homicide Investigation

The Richmond Police Department is seeking to attempt to identity a person of interest in a homicide investigation.

According to police, on November 17, 2025, at approximately 5:55 a.m., the Richmond PD dispatch center received a ShotSpotter gunshot detection alert in the 1400 block  of Bissell Avenue. Simultaneously, multiple callers reported hearing shots fired in the same area. Officers were immediately dispatched and located an adult victim suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Despite lifesaving efforts, the victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The victim has been identified as Josue Cornejo, a 23-year-old Richmond resident.

During the subsequent investigation, RPD Homicide Detectives have located video footage of a person of interest in this case and are requesting the public’s assistance in identifying them. If someone recognizes this person, their clothing, distinctive shoes or believes they may know who the subject is, they are urged to contact Detective Farr at (510) 620-6622.
