Pleasanton, CA — Safeway is excited to announce the grand opening of its newest location in Oakley, the first Safeway in town. Located at 998 Laurel Rd., this 55,729-square-foot store will open on December 10 at noon. Shoppers can look forward to a wide range of vibrant, fresh offerings, a variety of choices and a convenient, easy shopping experience.

The store is designed to provide an easy and enjoyable shopping experience with an emphasis on fresh and convenience. We look forward to serving guests and becoming a trusted destination for all their grocery needs.”
To celebrate the grand opening, Safeway will host a brief program at the store with Safeway management, Oakley Mayor Shannon Shaw, and invited guests. It will include the presentation of a $10,000 donation from the Safeway Foundation to The Society of St. Vincent de Paul of Contra Costa County followed by a ribbon cutting ceremony. Adding to the festivities will be an appearance by the Freedom High School marching band and cheer squad.
Safeway will host special promotions throughout the opening week, including product tastings, giveaways and more. After noon, customers are invited to join the festivities and experience the new store’s offerings firsthand.

The store has generated 112 new jobs in the Oakley area and will be open from 5 a.m. to 2 a.m., with Kayla Dodson serving as the Store Director. The roof and covered parking structure features an advanced microgrid that will provide the store with clean, zero-emission solar power to satisfy over 70% of its electricity needs.
Coming soon, a new Safeway fuel station will feature a convenience store stocked with quick snacks and self-service drink options. The new Safeway will help serve the grocery and pharmacy needs of 43,000 residents of Oakley, as well as the adjacent communities of Antioch (117,000), Brentwood (65,000) and Bethel Island (2,100).
