24 Days of Contra Costa Businesses: Rivertown Treasure Chest

by CC News
Antioch

Whether you are hunting for treasure or something oddly unique, the Rivertown Treasure Chest in Downtown Antioch has something for everyone. It also makes a nice stop for the holiday season looking for gifts.

The co-op space has multiple vendors mixing “new” with “old” with items ranging from collectables, pop culture items, comic books, vinyl records and CD’s, books, clothing and accessories, jewelry and housewares—even toys and paint. One of the newest vendors is a local artist that has both paintings and photographs on the wall.

Owner Debbie Blaisure has the tag line, “something for all ages from all decades” and the store showcases that – even with seasonal themes like Christmas and Halloween.

While Blaisure and Toni Lincks have played the “flip game” with items for decades which included two Oddly Unique stores, the Treasure Chest opened at its current location in Spring 2017 and hasn’t looked back in ensuring items are rotated in and out to ensure a fresh look for visitors while keeping prices reasonable—and keeping things fun.

Back in December 2024, we recorded a podcast with Blaisure and Lincks, you can listen to our podcast. They share their growth from starting out in a co-op to launching their own store with growth from Oddly Unique to Rivertown Treasure Chest. We talk “flip game” as the idea is to buy low, sell high, but its not as easy as it seams and products could sit for years. Blaisure and Lincks talk about the industry and impact of EBAY and Facebook Marketplace. We get into the “myths” within the industry and how folks do not understand something is not always top dollar, but rather its value is tied to how much someone is willing to pay for an item. Finally, we talk about how to choose a vendor and what items to fill their store with.

The Rivertown Treasure Chest is located at 306 G St in Antioch. You may view them on Facebook, Instagram or their website.
