The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito police calls between December 1-13 according to the El Cerrito Police Department.
It does not include all crimes. It also does not include non-criminal events such as missing persons, traffic collisions, non-criminal deaths, non-criminal disputes, nor many other police activities that do not result in arrest
December 1st
- Stolen Vehicle Recovery – 6300 Block of Fairmount Ave: At 6:45 AM, Officers located a stolen vehicle to the rear of the above-mentioned location.
- Arson – 6060 Central Ave (Nations): At 8:09 AM, Officers arrested a suspect after they set a fire on the side of the business which burned the wall. The suspect was arrested and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
- Grand Theft – 11555 San Pablo Ave (DD’s Discounts): At 12:40 PM, the victim reports the theft of personal items were taken after being left in a cart.
- Burglary – 1300 Block of Richmond St: At 1:51 PM, the victim reports a suspect entered their residence and destroyed items.
December 2nd
- Burglary – 700 Block of Richmond St: At 1:26 PM, the victim reports a suspect entered their residence and took several items.
- Vandalism – 700 Block of Colusa: At 9:21 am, the victim reports their vehicle was vandalized.
- Warrant Arrest – Liberty St and Central Ave: At 7:16 PM, Officers placed an individual under arrest after it was discovered they had a warrant, the suspect was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
- Shoplifting / Obstruction / Drunk in Public – 1000 El Cerrito Plaza (Lucky): At 9:44 PM, officers responded to a shoplift at the business. The subject refused officers’ commands and once detained, struggled with the officer. The subject was highly intoxicated and had stolen from the store. The subject was transported to the hospital for medical treatment and later released on a citation.
- Possession of stolen property / Identity theft / probation violation / possession of drug paraphernalia / felon in possession of stun gun and pepper spray / warrant – San Pablo Ave / Lincoln Ave: At 4:16 AM, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop on a vehicle. The driver and passenger were found to be in possession of stolen property, and drug paraphernalia. Both occupants were determined to be convicted felons and in possession of a stun gun and pepper spray. The driver was found to be in possession of the victims identifying information. The passenger was found to have a misdemeanor warrant.
December 3rd
- Impound of a Felony Vehicle – 11450 San Pablo Ave (Safeway): At 11:19 AM, Officers were alerted to a felony wanted vehicle in city limits. The vehicle was impounded at the request of the originating agency.
- Stolen Vehicle – 11400 Block of San Pablo Ave: At 4:23 PM, the victim reports their vehicle was stolen.
- Recovered Stolen Vehicle – 11400 Block of San Pablo Ave: At 10:38 PM, Officers recovered a previously stolen vehicle.
- Driving Under the Influence / No License – San Pablo Ave / San Diego street: At 1:37 AM, officers conducted a traffic stop and arrested the driver for driving under the influence and no license. The subject was later released on a citation.
December 4th
- Recovered Stolen Vehicle – 11400 Block of San Pablo Ave: At 11:53 AM, Officers recovered a previously stolen vehicle.
- Stolen Vehicle – Blake St & Lexington Ave: At 10:56 AM, the victim reports their vehicle was stolen.
December 5th
- Vandalism – 1504 S. 56th St: At 7:29 AM, an officer reports a vehicle window was shattered overnight, between 8:30 PM and 7:00 AM.
- Warrant Arrest – San Pablo Ave / Carlson Blvd: At 3:40 PM, an officer arrested a suspect on a no cite warrant during a ped stop. The subject was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
- Grand Theft from Person / Unlawful Use of Access Card – 9950 San Pablo Ave (Chase): At 4:27 PM, an officer reports the victim’s ATM card was exchanged by a suspect who was using the next ATM, while the victim was distracted by a second suspect. The suspects then withdrew funds using the stolen card.
- Possess Stolen Vehicle – Kearney St / Manila Ave: At 4:40 PM, Flock hit on a stolen vehicle entering the city. An officer located the vehicle on San Pablo Ave at Manila Ave and made a felony stop as the driver attempted to turn around on Kearney St to the rear of the police department. The driver was arrested and transported to the Martinez Detecntion Facility.
- Theft – 10636 San Pablo Ave (24 Hour Fitness): At 7:30 PM, an officer reports an unknown suspect entered the victim’s unlocked locker and removed property.
- Warrant Arrest – Ohlone Greenway/MacDonald Ave: At 10:27 PM, an officer contacted a subject who had an outstanding warrant. The subject was taken into custody and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
December 6th
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia/ Destruction of Evidence- Manila Ave/San Pablo Ave:
At 4:10 AM, an officer noticed a subject walking in front of the police station smoking a glass pipe. The officer detained the subject to place him under arrest. While under arrest the subject stepped on the glass pipe in an attempt to destroy the evidence. Officers conducted a records check and discovered the subject had a probation violation warrant for his arrest. The subject was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
December 7th
- Driving Under the Influence – San Pablo Ave/ Moeser Ln: At 1:32 AM, an officer noticed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed without any headlights on and failed to stop for several red lights and stop signs. The officer caught up with the vehicle and conducted a traffic enforcement stop. Officers determined the driver was under the influence of alcohol and placed them under arrest. The driver was transported to the El Cerrito Police Department for booking. After booking, the driver was issued a citation and released to a sober friend.
December 8th
- Battery – 1700 block of Liberty St: At 4:19 PM, an officer took a lobby report of a Battery that occurred on Saturday.
- Misappropriate Found Property – 11225 San Pablo Ave (Rockin’ Robbie): At 5:17 PM, an unidentified suspect attempted to sell an item to the music store. The manager recognized the item as a rental from the same store and called the renter, who was not sure how the clarinet left their possession.
- Theft with Priors / Warrant Arrest – 1000 El Cerrito Plaza (Lucky): At 9:43 PM, officers were dispatched to the business for two suspects who exited the store with unpaid merchandise. An officer circulating the area located one of the suspects at the El Cerrito Plaza BART station and detained him. The suspect was positively identified during an infield show up and placed under Citizen’s Arrest. Officers conducted a records check of the suspect and discovered he had an outstanding warrant and four prior theft convictions. After booking, the suspect was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
December 9th
- Grand Theft – 6700 block of Glen Mawr Ave: At 1:37 PM an officer reports the suspect stole a catalytic converter.
- Lewd Conduct – 295 El Cerrito Plaza: At 4:06 PM an officer accepted the citizens arrest of a subject who displayed lewd conduct in the parking lot. Subject was transported to Martinez Detention Facility.
- Battery – 11100 block of San Pablo Ave: At 7:01 PM, officers responded to a Battery where the suspect had already fled the scene.
- Warrant Arrest – San Pablo Ave / Eureka Ave: At 11:28 PM, officers conducted a traffic stop and arrested the driver on several outstanding warrants. The subject was later transported to Martinez Detention Facility.
December 10th
- Drug Paraphernalia / Drug Possession / Probation Violation – Liberty St / Central Ave: At 11:56 PM, officers conducted a bicycle stop and after conducting a probation search of the subject officers found drug paraphernalia and narcotics in their possession. The subject was later transported to the Martinez Detention Facilty.
December 11th
- Auto Burglary – 5400 Block of Barrett Ave At 11:52 AM, an officer reports the suspect shattered the victims’ driver window and stole property.
- Warrant Arrest / Possession of Drug Paraphernalia: At 3:02 PM, an officer contacted a subject who had an outstanding warrant. A search was conducted and the officer located drug paraphernalia. The subject was transported to Martinez Detention Facility.
December 12
- Burglary – 800 block of Balra Dr: At 11:08 AM, an officer reports an unidentified suspect rummaged through the victim’s unlocked vehicle between 8:30 PM on 12/11 and 8:30 AM on 12/12.
- Shoplift – 11430 San Pablo Ave (Pet Food Express): At 12:21 PM, two unidentified suspects stole merchandise.
- Shoplift – 6000 El Cerrito Plaza (Marshalls): At 6:45 PM, an officer reports an unknown suspect concealed items underneath their clothing and fled the store without paying.
- Residential Burglary – 3400 Block of Carlson Blvd: An officer reports an unknown suspect entered the victim’s residence via an unsecured window and stole property. The incident occurred between 1:40 PM and 5:15 PM.
- Prowling – 7800 Block of Eureka Ave: At 8:05 PM, an officer reports the victim received notification that her security cameras had been activated. The victim reviewed the security footage and discovered a known suspect was walking around her property.
December 13
- Driving Under the Influence – San Pablo Ave/ Ohio: At 1:53 AM, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested the driver for driving under the influence.
- Grand Theft – 3000 block of Carlson Blvd: At 9:43 AM, an officer reports an unidentified suspect entered an unlocked vehicle and stole property sometime overnight.
- Battery – 2000 El Cerrito Plaza (Ross): At 11:34 AM, an unidentified suspect shoved the victim after cutting in line, then fled on a bicycle.
- Shoplift – 2000 El Cerrito Plaza (Ross): At 11:18 PM, employees called to report an unknown suspect fled the business with unpaid merchandise. An officer located the suspect at the El Cerrito Plaza BART station and detained him. The suspect was positively identified after officers conducted an infield show-up with an employee.
