Walnut Creek Police Investigating Armed Robbery and Shooting; One Arrest Made

Walnut Creek Police are continuing to investigate an armed robbery and shooting that happened Sunday.

On January 4, 2026, at approximately 3:54 a.m., Walnut Creek Police Officers responded to a report of an armed robbery at the Kwik Serve Gas Station located at 1387 S. California Blvd. Upon arrival, officers located an employee suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital and is currently receiving treatment.

Preliminary investigation indicates that two masked suspects entered the store and attempted to steal cigarettes. During the incident, the employee confronted the suspects, and a struggle ensued. The victim was shot during the altercation.

Walnut Creek Police Detectives responded to the scene and began pursuing leads. Later that evening, at approximately 6:00 p.m., WCPD Detectives, with assistance from the Oakland Police Department, arrested a 16-year-old juvenile in connection with this case. The suspect was booked into Juvenile Hall on charges of attempted robbery (664/211 PC) and attempted homicide (664/187 PC). This remains an active and ongoing investigation.
