Updated: Man Barricades Himself in Oakley Home After Shooting at Deputy

The Contra Costa County Sheriffs Office has a neighborhood in the City of Oakley on lockdown due to a armed barricaded subject.

According to preliminary information, the man had a restraining order violation and was being served by the sheriffs office. During the high-risk stop, the man shot at sheriffs deputies who then returned fire. That is when the male barricaded himself in a home in the 4300 block of Gold Run Drive near Neroly Road, Oakley Road and Empire Ave.

By 4:15 pm, the Contra Costa County Sheriffs Office and SWAT made entry after a single gunshot was heard. The male suspect apparently sustained a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was transported to an area hospital. No update has been provided on his condition as of 5:15 pm.

The Oakley Police Department is assisting the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office in a significant investigation occurring in the vicinity of the 4300 block of Gold Run Drive in Oakley. This investigation involves an armed subject who is not yet apprehended. The suspect is described as a white male adult, in his mid 40’s, wearing a hat and a grey hooded sweatshirt.

Avoid the areas of Gold Run Drive, Lariat Lane, Placer Drive, Prospect Court, Sutter Street, El Dorado Street, Sonora Court & Silverado Drive. If you live in those areas stay inside and report anything suspicious or unusual.
