WALNUT CREEK, Calif. – The current average for California gas prices is $4.26 per gallon, an increase of six cents since last week. The winter storm that wreaked havoc on most of the nation has led to supply disruptions and pushed up the national average for a gallon of regular gasoline to $2.87.
“While the weather is mild in the west, below-freezing temperatures and lingering snow in the rest of the country have disrupted some crude production and refinery operations,” said Doug Johnson, spokesperson for AAA Mountain West Group. “Those factors have led to a rise at the pump over the last week across the country. But not enough to match last year’s national average at this time of $3.12.”
