The Hercules Police Department announced a suspect who is connected to multiple burglaries and theft is now in custody and awaiting trial.
According to police, the suspect was identified as Christian Morales, male out of Rodeo, and he has been charged with:
- 4 residential burglaries/thefts/prowling
- Obstruction of a peace officer
- 4 additional residential burglary cases committed in Richmond and within Contra Costa Sheriff’s jurisdiction
Many of our residents lost tools, high-value bicycles, and experienced significant damage to their homes and property as a result of these crimes.
Patrol officers worked diligently to collect evidence and obtain DNA swabs, while detectives conducted follow-up and pursued leads to ensure the case was thoroughly investigated. Their commitment and attention to detail were key in bringing this case forward. Police said they remain committed to holding offenders accountable and protecting our community.
Per Hercules Police Calls Logs:
- Automotive Burglary: On February 2, 2026, at approximately 7:33 AM, an officer was dispatched to the AT&T service station (1540 Sycamore Avenue) regarding two company work vans that had been broken into, resulting in the theft of work tools. The Reporting Party advised the vans were locked and secured on Friday, 01/31, and when she returned to work this morning, she discovered the windows had been broken, and approximately $5,500 worth of tools had been stolen from the vans. - Outside Assist Felony Vehicle: On February 2, 2026, at approximately 10:30 AM, an officer located a felony vehicle, a black four-door 2105 Chrysler 200, exiting eastbound Interstate 80 at Cumming Skyway. The vehicle was entered by the Berkley Police Department as being involved in a criminal investigation. Hercules officers, with the assistance of Contra Costa County Sheriff deputies, conducted a felony stop of the vehicle in the area of San Pablo Avenue at Refinery Road. The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle were detained. Berkeley PD detectives were contacted and responded to the scene to interview the driver and tow the vehicle for evidence. H26-00095
- Theft by False Pretense: On January 29, 2026, at 3:27 PM an officer met with the Reporting Party/Victim (RP/V). The RP/V stated she had received a scamming call from someone claiming to be an Apple employee and they persuaded her to purchase a $200 Apple gift card, while also gathering information for multiple credit cards. After the phone call she realized she had been scammed. RP/V immediately contacted her banks and cancelled her cards. H25-00081
- Driving Under the Influence Collision w/ Injury: On January 30, 2026, at 6:18 PM officers responded to the intersection of the westbound I-80 off and Willow Avenue, in front of 828 Willow Avenue. A white 2023 Toyota Tacoma and a 1999 Toyota Corolla were located blocking the intersection and involved in the collision. The driver of the Corolla was identified as the victim, a 69 year old male from Rodeo, and the driver of the Tacoma was identified as the suspect, a 55 year old male from Suisun City. The victim complained of pain, with minor injuries and was transported to the hospital by family after he was checked by AMR. The suspect was determined to be driving under the influence at the time of the collision. The suspect was arrested and transported to HPD for a blood draw prior to being transported to Martinez Detention Facility after a medical clearance. H26-00084 (Collision)/H26-00085 (DUI)
- Driving Under the Influence/Solo Traffic Collision: On January 31, 2026, at 12:15 AM, Officers were dispatched to the area of John Muir Parkway near the Exchange for a report of a vehicle collision. Officers arrived and located a solo 2012 Honda Accord that had crashed into the center median. Officers contacted a 25 year old male and the passenger, 22 year old female. Both subjects had an odor of alcohol emanating from their person. The male subject admitted to crashing the Honda and admitted they had just been drinking on Bayfront Blvd. The male subject was given the Standard Field Sobriety Tests and refused the Preliminary Alcohol Screening test. The male subject was placed under arrest and transported to HPD where a blood tech processed his blood. The male subject was later released to a sober driver, and the Honda was towed on scene. - Warrant Arrest/Towed Vehicle: On January 31, 2026, at 5:39 AM, an Officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop on a 2004 Toyota. The Officer contacted a 67 year old male. The subject had an outstanding warrant for his arrest issued by San Pablo PD. The subject was transported to Martinez Detention Facility, and the Toyota was towed on scene. H26-00088 Warrant Arrest/Resisting: On January 31, 2026, at 8:25 AM an officer checked on a suspicious vehicle parked at Shell at 3900 San Pablo Avenue. The vehicle was a 2004 Toyota Camry occupied by four subjects. One of the subjects was identified as a 43 year old male, from Fairfield, and found to have two warrants out of Solano County. The subject was arrested and became combative, kicking officers. He was subdued and transported to Martinez Detention Facility. H26-00089
- Catalytic Converter Theft: On January 31, 2026, at 2:21 PM, an officer responded to the 100 block of Catalina Drive for a report of catalytic converter theft. The Reporting Party stated she parked her vehicle at the address on January 30 at 5:15 PM and returned to it on January 31 at approximately 2:00 PM to discover the exhaust was loud. After closer inspection, it was determined the catalytic converter was removed. H26-00090
- Warrant Arrest: On February 1, 2026, at 2:13 AM, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop on a vehicle on Sycamore Ave near Refugio Valley Rd. A records check on the driver, 66 year old female, revealed she had a non-citable outstanding warrant for her arrest out of Yuba County. The subject was arrested and booked at Martinez Detention Facility without incident and the vehicle was left safely parked for her sister to pick up. H26-00092
