The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito police calls between January 25 – February 7 according to the  El Cerrito Police Department.

It does not include all crimes. It also does not include non-criminal events such as missing persons, traffic collisions, non-criminal deaths, non-criminal disputes, nor many other police activities that do not result in arrest

January 25th  

  • Possession of a Concealed Firearm – San Pablo Ave/Carlson Blvd: At 12:26 AM, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested the driver for being in possession of a concealed firearm. The driver was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released on a citation.
  • Driving Under the Influence – Central Ave/Yosemite Ave: At 1:14 AM, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested the driver for driving under the influence of alcohol. After the driver was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department, they were issued a citation and released to a sober friend.
  • Driving Under the Influence – Carlson Blvd /El Dorado Ave: At 2:07 AM, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested the driver for driving under the influence. Due to the driver’s level of intoxication, officers summoned an ambulance to transport them to a local hospital for medical evaluation. They were issued a citation and released to the custody of the hospital.
  • Burglary – 1700 Block of Lexington Ave: At 2:36 AM, an officer reports the victim was woken up by noises and light shining through the door frame of the bedroom. Moments later the suspect opened the door and saw the victim. The suspect then fled the scene.
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance – San Pablo Ave/Lincoln Ave: At 4:44 AM, an officer conducted a traffic stop and arrested the driver for being in possession of narcotics.
  • Burglary – 2000 block of Tapscott Ave:  At 9:13 AM, an officer reports unidentified suspect broke outt a window to gain entry to the vacant house.
  • Burglary – 2600 block of Brooks Ave:  At 9:50 AM, an officer reports a suspect was captured on video at 3:28 AM breaking in to a garage and stealing property.
  • Burglary – 400 block of Albemarle St:  At 2:40 PM, an officer reports an unidentified suspect entered an unlocked vehicle and stole property.  Occurred between 3:00 PM on 1/24 and 2:20 PM on 1/25.

January 26th

  • Warrant Arrest – Central Ave/Carlson Blvd: A parole agent advised officers of a high-risk sex offender, who had a warrant for their arrest, being in the area. The parolee was being monitored with an ankle bracelet, but the battery had died. At 1:39 AM, an officer located the parolee and detained him. The officer confirmed the warrant and transported the parolee to the Martinez Detention Facility.
  • Annoying Phone Calls – 1500 Block of Lexington Ave: At 2:26 AM, an officer reports the victim has been receiving phone calls from an unknown or spoofed numbers.
  • Stolen Vehicle – 11155 San Pablo Ave: At 2:33 AM, an officer reports an unknown suspect stole the victim’s vehicle.
  • Possession of a Dangerous Weapon / Battery on Peace Officer / Drunk in Public / Tampering with Vehicle – 11755 San Pablo Ave (El Cerrito Honda). At 11:39 P.M., officers observed a subject tampering with vehicles in the back of the Honda car dealership and detained them.  The subject was also intoxicated.  During an arrest search, the subject was found in possession of a dangerous weapon (slingshot).  During the transport to the Martinez Detention Facilty, the subject kicked an officer.
  • Driving Under the Influence – San Pablo Ave/Central Ave. At 1:51 A.M., officers conducted a traffic stop and arrested a subject for driving under the influence.  The subject was later released on a citation to a sober friend.

January 27th  

  • Hit and Run Accident with Injury – 11450 San Pablo Ave. At 6:40 P.M., officers responded to a hit and run accident.  A vehicle struck a pedestrian and fled the scene.  The suspect vehicle was not located.
  • Driving Under the Influence – Carlson Blvd/Panama Ave. At 12:47 A.M., officers conducted a traffic stop and arrested the driver for driving under the influence.  The driver was later released on a citation to a sober friend.

January 28th  

  • Warrant Arrest – 3288 Pierce St. At 1:40 A.M., officers conducted a pedestrian stop and arrested the subject on two misdemeanor warrants.  The subject was later released on a citation from ECPD.

January 29th

  • Shoplift – 1000 El Cerrito Plaza (Lucky): At 6:10 AM, an officer reports an unknown suspect left the store with unpaid merchandise.
  • Shoplift – 1000 El Cerrito Plaza (Lucky): At 11:51 AM, an officer reports an unknown suspect left the store with unpaid merchandise.
  • Identity Theft – 7200 Block of Cutting Blvd: At 1:51 PM, an officer reports the victim received a call advising his computer had been compromised. The victim was tricked into giving his personal information to the caller.
  • Battery – 11430 San Pablo Ave. At 6:12 P.M., officers responded to an assault.  The victim was punched in the face by an unknown suspect.  The suspect fled prior to police arrival.
  • Warrant Arrest – Hill Street/BART Path. At 2:32 A.M., officers conducted a pedestrian stop and arrested a subject on a misdemeanor warrant.  The subject was later transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

January 30th

  • Prowling/Peeping – 1300 block of Liberty St:  At 11:54 AM, an officer reports an unidentified suspect entered through an unlocked side gate and loitered in the back yard between the main residence and two auxiliary dwelling units in the rear.  The suspect was captured on video peeking in through windows and walking between buildings.
  • Warrant Arrest – 6400 block of Schmidt Ln.:  At 5:15 PM, officers responded to a report of a man with a gun.  The man with a gun was not located, but during a search a different suspect was arrested on three warrants.  The suspect was booked at the Martinez Detention Facility.
  • Residential Burglary – 2600 Francisco Way: At 8:08 PM, an officer reports unknown suspects forced open a rear door to gain entry into the victim’s residence and stole property.
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – El Cerrito Plaza: At 11:56 PM, an officer conducted a pedestrian stop on a subject. During a consensual search the subject was found to be in possession of a glass pipe commonly known to be used for smoking narcotics. The subject was issued a citation and released out in the field.

January 31st  

  • Warrant Arrest – 10900 San Pablo Ave:  A suspect was arrested on an Oakland Police Department warrant during a follow up investigation.  Oakland PD came and took custody of the suspect after he was booked at ECPD.
  • Vandalism – 400 block of Liberty St:  At 4:32 PM, an officer reports an unidentified suspect kicked the right side of the victim’s vehicle several times causing damage.  Occurred between 9:00 PM on 1/30 and 6:15 PM on 1/31.

February 1st  

  • Warrant Arrest – Carlson Blvd/Central Ave: At 2:09 AM, an officer recognized a subject who had an outstanding warrant. The officer contacted the subject and arrested them for the warrant and transported them to the Martinez Detention Facility.
  • Public Intoxication – 7000 El Cerrito Plaza:  At 10:00 AM, an officer arrested a suspect for public intoxication during a pedestrian stop for drinking in public.  The suspect was booked at the Martinez Detention Facility.
  • Petty Theft – 1300 block of Liberty St:  At 1:21 PM, an officer reports the victim left her purse in her unlocked car while moving in to a new apartment.  At 1:10 PM, a vehicle stopped alongside the car and the suspect exited the passenger side and stole the purse.
  • Burglary – 900 block of Leneve Pl:  At 1:30 PM, an officer reports unidentified suspect(s) smashed three windows to make entry to the victim vehicle and stole property.
  • Vandalism – Jefferson Ave/S. 56th Street: An officer reports an unknown suspect damaged the victim’s vehicle on 1/30/2026 at 8:30 PM.
  • Vandalism – Cypress Ave/S. 56th Street: An officer reports an unknown suspect damaged the victim’s vehicle.

February 2nd   

  • Driving Under the Influence – Eastshore Blvd/San Pablo Ave: At 1:02 AM, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested the driver for driving under the influence of alcohol. After the driver was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department they were transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
  • Driving Under the Influence – San Pablo Ave/Portola Dr: At 2:43 AM, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested the driver for driving under the influence of alcohol. After the driver was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department, they were issued a citation and released to a sober friend.
  • Battery/Shoplift – 11565 San Pablo Ave (Walgreen’s):  At 10:22 AM, an officer reports an unidentified suspect was led out of the store by security.  The suspect returned and lunged at the security guard without making contact, then stole merchandise on his way out the door.
  • Battery – BART Path/Knott Ave:  At 12:55 PM, an officer reports the suspect and the victim were walking on the BART path when the suspect became angry and placed the victim in a headlock.
  • Theft – 3060 El Cerrito Plaza(Starbucks): At 7:56 PM, an officer reports the victim placed his property near the restroom doors when they went to use the restroom. Upon return the property was gone.

February 3rd

  • Warrant Arrest – San Pablo Ave/Macdonald Ave: At 12:29 PM, an Officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop.  The driver was discovered to have an outstanding arrest warrant.  The suspect was placed under arrest and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
  • Assault with a Deadly Weapon/Possession of Brass Knuckles – 340 El Cerrito Plaza (Wingstop): At 4:22 PM, Officers were dispatched to an assault.  The victims reported that ten suspects approached them and began to strike the victims.  Two of the suspects were armed with brass knuckles.  The suspects fled prior to Police arrival.
  • Elder Abuse – 200 Block of Ramona Ave: At 5:22 PM, officers took a report of elder abuse.
  • Residential Burglary – 1300 Block of Elm Street: At 7:05 PM, the victim reported an unknown suspect forced entry into the residence and conducted a ransack.
  • Public Intoxication – San Pablo Ave/Cutting Blvd: At 9:24 PM, officers arrested a subject for public intoxication and transported that subject to the Martinez Detention Facility.
  • Possession of Narcotics – 1000 El Cerrito Plaza (Lucky): At 12:14 AM, officers conducted a pedestrian stop to the rear of the business and arrested a subject for possession of narcotics.  The subject was later released on a citation.

February 4th

  • Unauthorized Use of Account Data – 3200 Block of Santa Clara Ave: At 9:37 AM, the victim reports they were contacted by two Suspects on social media.  The suspects convinced the victim to provide them with the victim’s passwords to accounts containing cryptocurrency.  The suspects then changed the passwords to the victim’s accounts leaving the victim no way to access their funds.
  • Grand Theft from Person – 700 Block of Colusa Ave: At 11:21 AM, the victim reported upon arriving home, they were approached by a suspect in their driveway.  The suspect began to talk to the victim as if they knew the victim, hugged the victim and placed a necklace around their neck.  The suspect then entered an awaiting vehicle and fled.  After the suspect left, the victim noticed their necklace was missing and replaced with the necklace from the suspect.
  • Criminal Threats – San Pablo Ave/Potrero Ave: At 7:49 PM, the victim reported being threatened by an unknown subject.  The subject had fled the scene prior to officers’ arrival.
  • Grand Theft – 7000 El Cerrito Plaza (Daiso): At 9:13 PM, the victim reported their e-trike stolen from in front of the business by an unknown suspect.

February 5th  

  • Assault/Brandishing a Firearm – 11780 San Pablo Ave (Parking Lot): At 5:41 PM, Officers were dispatched to a report of an assault.  The victim reported after a road rage incident, a Suspect exited their vehicle, struck the victim in the back of the head and pointed a firearm at them.  Suspects fled prior to Police arrival.
  • Driving Under the Influence – San Pablo Ave/Brighton Ave. At 8:48 PM, officers conducted a traffic stop and arrested the driver for driving under the influence.  The driver was later released on a citation to a sober friend.

February 6th

  • Possession of Narcotics, false impersonation, and Warrants – Del Norte BART Station 6400 Cutting Blvd: At 3:32 AM, officers conducted a pedestrian stop near the bus station and arrested the subject for possession of narcotics.  The subject provided a false name to officers. After the subjects identity was determined, they were found to have two outstanding warrants for their arrest. The subject was issued a citation on the possession of narcotics and providing a false name. The subject was transported to Martinez Detention Facility on the warrants.
  • Vehicle Theft – 2000 block of Harper St:  At 8:34 AM, an officer reports theft of a vehicle.
  • Shoplift – 11565 San Pablo Ave (Walgreen’s):  At 11:18 AM, an officer reports an unidentified suspect stole merchandise.
  • Shoplift – 11565 San Pablo Ave (Walgreen’s):  At 12:28 PM, an officer reports an unidentified suspect stole merchandise.
  • Lost or Stolen Plate – 10621 San Pablo Ave (Budget Motel):  At 1:06 PM, an officer reports that one license plate went missing from a vehicle parked on San Pablo Ave.
  • Driving Under the Influence – Central Ave/San Luis Ave: At 11:05 PM, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested the driver for driving under the influence. After the driver was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department they were released on a citation to a sober friend.

February 7th

  • Driving under the Influence – Cutting Blvd/San Pablo Ave: At 3:34 AM, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested the driver for driving under the influence. After the driver was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department they were transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
  • Attempted Grand Theft – Galvin Dr/Terrace Dr:  At 7:01 AM, an officer reports two suspects were interrupted while attempting to steal a catalytic converter.Prowling – 900 Block of Kearney St:
    At 6:10 PM, an officer reports that a suspect was captured on video prowling between two houses. As officers arrived on scene, the suspect fled, dropping a screwdriver.
