At 8:50 pm Monday, the Contra Costa County Sheriffs Office responded to a report of a gunshot wound to the chest on Dutch Slough Road in Oakley.
While units were responding, a medical helicopter was requested as CPR was in progress. By 9:01 pm, Oakley PD arrive don scene and scene was secure. As of 9:04, CPR was still in progress. By 9:09 pm, it was reported the victim had sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
By 9:11 pm, it was reported the victim was deceased according to Contra Costa County Fire Protection District.
No other information was available.
Update: According to a witness, a van had pulled up, the victim and the individual spoke when the man was shot. The van took off.
9:35 am UPDATE Homicide Investigation
On Monday, February 23, 2026, at about 8:49PM, Delta Station deputy sheriffs were dispatched to a report that someone was shot on the 3200 block of Dutch Slough Road in Bethel Island.
Deputies arrived and located a man lying on the street suffering from a gunshot wound.
Deputies started life-saving measures until the fire department arrived. The victim was later pronounced deceased at the scene. He is not being identified at this time. Detectives from the Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit and the crime lab responded to the scene.
