“This Thursday’s pre show with Loaves and Fishes of Contra Costa and Del Cielo Brewing Co. is more than just a lead up to our 2026 Rock Out Hunger Gala. It is a celebration of where we are headed as an organization. As we prepare for our biggest fundraiser of the year, we are also building momentum for our new Central Kitchen project. This kitchen will strengthen our ability to prepare and distribute thousands of nutritious meals every day across Contra Costa County, ensuring efficiency, consistency, and long-term sustainability, per Janette Kennedy, ED, Development and External Relations,” explained Lisa Guadagna, Grants & Communication Manager for Loaves and Fishes. “The culinary contest highlights the talent and heart behind our mission, including participants connected to our Culinary Arts Training Program, while Del Cielo’s special “RockOut Hunger” release raises awareness and support for the work happening behind the scenes. Every plate served and every pint poured helps move us closer to a stronger food system for our community. This is what investing in the future of Loaves and Fishes looks like.”

About Loaves & Fishes
Since 1983, Loaves and Fishes of Contra Costa has served millions of meals to individuals and families facing hunger throughout Contra Costa County. With the support of a dedicated volunteer community, the organization has grown into a vital safety-net provider-serving hundreds of thousands of meals and distributing large volumes of groceries each year to neighbors in need.
Launched in 2016, our Culinary Arts Training Program prepares participants for entry-level employment in the food service industry. Students gain hands-on experience in basic food preparation and cooking techniques, safe operation of a commercial kitchen, food service fundamentals, and basic nutrition. The program also includes coaching in interviewing and job-readiness skills, with individualized support to help participants secure employment. Graduates have gone on to work in culinary positions and pursue further training through the Diablo Valley College Culinary Arts program.
Loaves and Fishes of Contra Costa works closely with social service agencies and community-based organizations to strengthen the local safety net and better support individuals and families in need. Our partners include Trinity Center, St. Vincent de Paul, Rubicon Programs, Opportunity Junction, White Pony Express, and the Food Bank of Contra Costa & Solano.
