Antioch, CA — Antioch Speedway is celebrating it’s 65th Anniversary. The track opened at the Contra Costa County Fairgrounds in 1961 and has operated each year since. 2026 will see the speedway hold it 66th championship season with a wide variety of different divisions throughout the year.

Back once again will be the IMCA sanctioned Modifieds, Sport Modifieds and Stock Cars. This will be the track’s seventh consecutive season under the IMCA banner. The Modifieds are the track’s longest running division, holding its first championship season in 1990. As has been the case in recent seasons, the three divisions will usually be scheduled to compete on the same night.

The popular Pacific Coast Hobby Stocks return with the busiest schedule for any division in the rotation this year at 21 races. Holding their first championship season in 1995, this will be the 32nd year in which a Hobby Stock champion has been crowned at the 3/8 mile clay oval. Back on the schedule again will be the Sixth Annual Pacific Coast Hobby Stock Nationals on October 17th. This is the biggest race for the division anywhere on the West Coast.

Open wheel enthusiasts will note that the Wingless Spec Sprints are back for their 28th season, while the Dwarf Cars will be competing in their 29th championship season. With four Hunt Wingless Spec Sprint races throughout the season, it was decided that in order to give the local effort more races for points, Hunt and regular Wingless Spec Sprint races will all count for track championship points.

The Hunt Series generally produces car counts in the twenties or better. Their visits this season will include the Randy Larson Memorial on April 25th, the Cameron Martin Memorial on June 20th, Back To School Backpack Night on July 25th and Track Or Treat Night on October 24th. Furthermore, the track will see the USCS Wingless Sprint Cars make their first ever appearance on October 3rd, while the popular NARC King Of The West Winged 410 Sprint Cars visit on September 12th.

The track will continue to offer the growing 600 Micro Sprints division as well as Mini Stocks, Hardtops/Valley Sportsman, Late Models and Super Stocks in the regular rotation. Two of the five Super Stock races will be with the Tri State Pro Stock Series on May 2nd and the finale on October 31st, which is the second running of the Workman Communications 50. Among the notable races for the Late Models are the 10th Annual Larry Damitz Memorial on May 30th, Hall of Fame Night on August 22nd and IMCA Championship Night on September 26th, which are also Xtreme Late Model Series races.

Further open wheel excitement will include visits from the BCRA Midgets and Lightning Sprints as well as the WMR Midgets. WMR and BCRA, which is the oldest California based Midget association dating back to the 1930s, will team up throughout the season in an effort to increase the car count. This went well last season, and the two appearances for that series include the Ken Graunstadt Memorial on June 6th and August 15th, while the BCRA Lightning Sprints visit on August 29th as part of the Panfili Cup race for Wingless Spec Sprints. WMR Midgets will make three solo appearances on April 4th, July 25th and October 3rd.

Ten times throughout the season, the three IMCA sanctioned divisions and the Pacific Coast Hobby Stocks will be on the card together. Those dates include the popular Easter Eggstravaganza opener on April 4th, the Bill Bowers Memorial race the following week, Mother’s Day weekend on May 9th, Fan Appreciation night on June 13th, the Soares Memorial on June 27th, July 18th, the Dean Cline Classic on August 1st, August 8th, Hall of Fame Night on August 22nd and IMCA Championship Night on September 26th.

For the Hobby Stocks, the Dean Cline Classic on August 1st, paying tribute to the Antioch Speedway Hall of Famer, will again be a 50 lap event. The Mother’s Day Weekend event on the May 9th will see the return of the Denise McCown Memorial Hobby Stock Ladies Race, paying tribute to the past division champion. The Sixth Annual Hobby Stock Nationals on October 17th will be the night everybody wants to be a part of the action with the big money on the line.

Whatever you’re looking for, Antioch Speedway has you covered with another action-packed lineup of divisions to choose from. From the popular IMCA divisions and Hobby Stocks to a different variety of open wheel classes, you have much to choose from. On March 28th, the speedway will open with the second visit ever for the 2x Monster Truck Tour, which runs two shows that day with loads of entertainment for the fans.

Drivers will have plenty of opportunity to tune up, while speedway officials make sure everything is in working order. March 7th, 14th and 21st will all be playday events, and the Easter Eggstravaganza opens the season with great racing action and an Easter Egg Candy Hunt for the kids during intermission. In addition to IMCA Modifieds, Sport Modifieds and Stock Cars along with Hobby Stocks, the WMR Midgets and Dwarf Cars will be there. The Bill Bowers Memorial has been moved to April 11th, with the IMCA classes and Hobby Stocks competing along with Mini Stocks and the Hardtops/Valley Sportsman cars. Purse announcements for that event will be forthcoming.
