The Pittsburg Police Department say the arrested a 27-year-old man in connection with a fatal incident on Saturday.
On Saturday evening, at approximately 10:46 P.M., Pittsburg Police Officers responded to the 400 block of East Santa Fe Avenue for the report of an assault that had just occurred.
Responding officers located a 53-year-old male victim inside the home, suffering from serious injuries to the upper torso. Officers provided immediate medical aid at the scene. Emergency medical personnel transported the victim to the hospital, but unfortunately the man did not survive his injures. The suspect had fled the home in a vehicle prior to officers’ arrival.
The Investigations Division was notified and took over the investigation, quickly Identifying the suspect as a 27-year-old male who resides in the same home as the victim. An extensive search of the area was conducted and officers were able to locate the suspect in his vehicle. The suspect was taken into custody, and later booked and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
The identity of the suspect and the victim are not being released at this time, awaiting next of kin contact. This is an active investigation and no additional information will be released at this time.
