Arrests Made, Charges Filed in San Pablo Homicide Case

The San Pablo Police Department announced four arrests in the December 29 homicide investigation of a Richmond man.

On Monday, December 29, 2025, San Pablo Police Detectives began investigating the shooting homicide of 36-year-old Richmond resident, Clarence Hughes (Jr.).

Detectives utilized the City’s comprehensive network of Public Safety cameras and license plate reader technology to assist in identifying the suspect(s) responsible for the shooting; within two months, Detectives obtained Ramey arrest warrants for multiple suspects believed to be responsible for this tragic incident.

On March 12, 2026, with the assistance of numerous allied law enforcement agencies, San Pablo Police Detectives served five search warrants in the cities of Richmond and Berkeley, related to the homicide investigation. As a result of the search warrant services, four (4) suspects were taken into custody on Ramey arrest warrants, with a fifth suspect already in custody in southern California on a separate felony charge.

On March 16, 2026, the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office filed formal felony charges against Daveon Reed (22-years old, Richmond) and Adonis Gordon (21-years old, Richmond) for Murder and Attempted Murder, with criminal street gang enhancements. Both individuals remain in custody at the Martinez Detention Facility, and are being held without bail pending court proceedings.

The three additional suspects who were arrested on 03/12/2026 have since been released from custody. This remains an active and ongoing investigation, and SPPD Detectives remain diligent in continuing review of this case for additional filing developments, in collaboration with the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office.

San Pablo, CA – On Monday, December 29, 2025, at approximately 9:07 p.m., San Pablo Police Department officers responded to the 1400 block of Rumrill Boulevard regarding reports of a shooting.

Upon arrival, officers located two adult male victims suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Both victims were transported to a local hospital for medical treatment. Despite life-saving efforts, one victim, a 36-year-old Richmond resident, succumbed to his injuries. The second victim, also a 36-year-old Richmond resident, remains in critical condition. The identities of the victims are being withheld pending further notification.

San Pablo Police Department Detectives responded to the scene and assumed the investigation. This incident is being investigated as a homicide, and the investigation remains active. No additional details are available at this time. The suspect(s) remain outstanding.
