The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito police calls between March 1-14 according to the El Cerrito Police Department.
It does not include all crimes. It also does not include non-criminal events such as missing persons, traffic collisions, non-criminal deaths, non-criminal disputes, nor many other police activities that do not result in arrest
March 1st
- Driving Under the Influence/Warrant Arrest – San Pablo Ave/Fairmount Ave: At 1:32 AM, officers were dispatched to the area for a disturbance. Upon arrival officers contacted the parties involved. Officers arrested the driver for suspicion of Driving Under the Influence and the passenger for an outstanding warrant. The driver was transported to a nearby hospital by an ambulance due to their level of intoxication and released on a citation. The passenger was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
- Petty Theft/Battery – 10086 San Pablo Ave (Tigon): At 10:58 AM, an officer reports a suspect took cash from the restaurant tip jar. When they were confronted by the restaurant owner, they threw the money on the floor and started toward the door. As he was leaving, an employee attemted to detain the suspect and a physical fight between the two ensued.
- Battery – 5200 block of Potrero Ave: At 8:34 PM, an officer reports two subjects were in a verbal argument that turned physical. Both parties did not want to pursue charges. The report will be forwarded to the DA’s Office for review.
March 2nd
- Criminal Threats/Possession of Narcotics – 5920 Cutting Blvd (Jack In The Box): At 1:00 AM, officers responded to the business for an unwanted subject. During the investigation officers discovered the subject had made threats to harm the victim. While talking to the subject he advised he had fentanyl in his possession. The subject was placed under arrest, and booked at the El Cerrito Police Department, then transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
- Auto Burglary – 600 block of Lexington Ave: At 3:38 AM, an officer reports an unknown suspect broke into two of the victim’s vehicles and rifled through it. No loss was reported.
- Illegal Use of an Access Card – 3160 Carlson Blvd (Grand Gas): At 6:03 PM, an officer reports an unknown suspect attempted to use the victim’s stolen credit card at the business, but the transaction was declined.
March 3rd
- Battery – 6400 Block of Portola Dr: At 1:35 AM, an officer reports the victim and suspect got into an argument. The suspect pushed the victim in an attempt to get them to leave the apartment. This case will be forwarded to the DA’s Office for review.
- Assault & Battery on Police Officer/ bstructing & Resisting/ runk in Public/Open Container – 11511 San Pablo Ave (T-Mobile). At 9:21 PM, officers responded to an alarm at the business and located two subjects on the roof. Both subjects were arrested on the above charges. One subject was released on a citation to a family member from El Cerrito Police Department and the other was transported to the Martinez Detention facility.
March 4th
- Stolen Vehicle x2 – 5200 Cypress Ave: At 6:30 AM, the victim reports two vehicles were stolen from outside their residence.
- Shoplifting – 11565 San Pablo Ave (Walgreens): At 10:17 AM, an individual entered the establishment, concealed items and left without paying.
- Recovered Stolen Vehicle – School St. and S. 56th St: At 12:46 PM, Officers located a previously stolen vehicle.
- Residential Burglary – 2200 Block of Key Blvd. At 5:52 PM, the victim reported an unknown suspect entered the apartment and stole items. The susbject fled before police arrival.
- Vandalism – 11450 San Pablo Ave (Safeway). At 9:21 PM, officers were dispatched to the business for two subjects damaging items inside the store. Officers detained both suspects in the parking lot. One subject was placed under citizen’s arrest and later cited and released. The other was released at the scene.
- Felon in Possession of a Firearm & Ammunition/Possession of a Stolen Firearm/Possession of Narcotics/Parole Hold/Probation Violation/Violation of Restraining Order – 11450 San Pablo Ave (Safeway). At 9:24 PM, officers conducted a pedestrian stop on several subjects loitering in the loading docks. One subject was on parole, probation, and had an active restraining order. A search of the subject was conducted, and narcotics were found in their possession. The subjects’ belongings were search and an unreported stolen firearm was located along with ammunition. The subject was later transported to Martinez Detention facility.
March 5th
- Petty Theft – 7100 Block of Donal: At 4:18 PM, the victim reports their electric scooter was stolen.
- Drunk in Public/Resisting Arrest – Carlson Blvd/San Pablo Ave: At 10:25 PM, officers conducted a pedestrian stop on a bicyclist. The subject was found to be intoxicated and resisted arrested. The subject was arrested and later released on a citation from El Cerrito Police Department.
March 6th
- Theft with Priors/Resist Arrest/Warrant – 11687 San Pablo Ave (Valero): At 10:20 AM, an officer reports the arrest of a suspect who stole cash from the open cash register and fled. The suspect resisted the officer when the arrest was made, and was later found to have a warrant for their arrest. The suspect was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility after booking at the El Cerrito Police Department.
- Driving Under the Influence- Potrero Ave/Liberty St: At 8:23 PM, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested the driver for Driving Under the Influence. After booking at the El Cerrito Police Department the driver was issued a citation and released to a sober friend.
March 7th
- Battery – 340 El Cerrito Plaza: An unidentified suspect asked the victim for a cigarette, then slapped the victim when they declined.
March 8th
- Driving Under the Influence – San Pablo Ave/Fairmont Ave: At 12:42 AM, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested the driver for Driving Under the Influence. After the driver was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department, they were issued a citation and released to a sober friend.
- Driving Under the Influence – San Pablo Ave/Stockton Ave: At 1:40 AM, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested the driver for Driving Under the Influence. After the driver was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department, they were issued a citation and released to a sober friend
- Trespass/Public Intoxication – 11900 San Pablo Ave (Red Onion): At 8:35 PM, officers responded to the business for an unwanted subject. Upon arrival, officers located the subject inside the business intoxicated and they continued to refuse to leave. The subject was placed under citizen’s arrest for Trespass. After booking, the subject was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
March 9th
- Strongarm Robbery/Embezzlement – 10192 San Pablo Ave (Emiliano Tacos): At 1:39 PM, the victim reports the suspect grabbed their arm and took items from their back pocket. After further investigation the business revealed items were removed from the interior of the establishment.
- Criminal Threats – 1000 El Cerrito Plaza (Lucky): At 2:03 PM, the victim reports while they were shopping, an employee made threats to harm the suspect, placing them in fear for their safety.
- Petty Theft – 10900 Block of San Pablo Ave At 3:13 PM, the victim reports an item was taken from their porch. The suspect was located, arrested, transported to the El Cerrito Police Department for booking and released with a citation.
- Theft/Vandalism/Conspiracy to commit a crime – 900 Block of King Drive: At 6:27 PM, an officer reports the arrest of two suspects who conspired to steal and vandalize the property. Both subjects were arrested, booked at El Cerrito Police Department and later released on a citation.
March 10th
- Possession of narcotics and Possession of drug paraphernalia – 11800 block of San Pablo Ave: At 01:06 AM, an officer conducted a pedestrian stop and arrested the subject for being in possession of narcotics and drug paraphernalia. The subject was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and later released on a citation.
- Auto Burglary – 800 Block of Everett St: At 7:28 AM, the victim reports their vehicle was broken into and items were taken.
- Burglary – 5400 Block of Silva Ave: At 1:57 PM, the victim reports the window to their garage door was broken,the garage door was opened, and items were stolen.
- Robbery/Criminal Threats – 10900 block of San Pablo Ave: At 8:48 PM, an officer reports the suspect made criminal threats and stole items from the victim.
March 11th
- Vandalism – 600 block of Kearney St: At 8:51 AM, the victim reports damage to their residence.
- Auto Burglary – 10390 San Pablo Ave (Best Burritos): At 1:09 PM, the victim reports their vehicle was broken into and items were taken.
- Shooting into an Inhabited Dwelling – 11600 Block of San Pablo Ave: At 1:58 PM, the victim reports they found a hole and bullet in their residence.
March 12th
- Warrant Arrest – 11600 block of San Pablo Ave: At 3:21 AM, an officer conducted a pedestrian stop and arrested the subject for an arrest warrant. The subject was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and later transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
- Theft by False Pretenses – 400 Block of Albemarle: At 3:55 PM, the victim reports they were defrauded financially.
March 13th
- Battery – 100 block of Carmel Ave: At 8:48 AM, an officer took a telephone report of a Battery that occurred on 3/9.
- Shoplift/Prior Theft Offenses – 5815 Cutting Blvd (Skechers): At 12:30 PM, an officer reports the arrest of a suspect for shoplifting merchandise. The suspect had numerous prior theft convictions. After booking at the El Cerrito Police Department they were transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
- Petty Theft – 7022 Stockton Ave (7-Eleven): At 6:50 PM, an officer reports an unknown suspect stole property from the victim’s unsecured vehicle.
- Petty Theft – 6200 Block of Cypress Ave: At 8:12 PM, an officer reports an unknown suspect stole property from the victim’s vehicle.
March 14th
- Driving Under the Influence – Carlson Blvd/Fairmount Ave: At 1:38 AM, an officer noticed a bicyclist weaving on the roadway and almost colliding into several vehicles. The officer contacted the bicyclist and determined they were intoxicated. The bicyclist was placed under arrest and booked into the Martinez Detention Facility.
- Driving Under the Influence – San Pablo Ave/Cutting Blvd: At 2:41 AM, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested the driver for Driving Under the Influence. After the driver was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department, they were issued a citation and released to a sober friend.
- Driving Under the Influence – 5200 block of Victor Ave: At 6:37 AM, officers responded to a report of a vehicle crashed into two parked cars. An officer conducted a DUI investigation and arrested the driver. After booking the subject wwas transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
- Burglary – 100 block of Santa Fe Ave: At 10:36 AM, an officer reports an unidentified suspect shattered the windows of a vehicle and rifled through the vehicle contents. No known loss.
- Criminal Threats – 11555 San Pablo Ave (DD’s Discounts): At 2:02 PM, an officer reports a suspect made threats to a store employee during a disagreement.
