April 6-11: Knightsen Avenue Road Closure Announced

The East Cypress Road widening project is making progress, and a roadway closure is needed for a section of Knightsen Avenue to allow the contractor to pave the southern portion of the intersection at East Cypress Road and Knightsen Avenue.

According to the City of Oakley, the closure will be from 6:00 am Monday, April 6 to 6:00 pm Saturday, April 11.  Residents along this section of Knightsen Avenue will be granted permission to access the area from the south side of roadway closure. East Cypress Road will remain open at all times during this work.

  • Please note that Knightsen Avenue between E Cypress Road to Virgina Lane will be closed next week between Monday, 4/6/26 through Saturday 4/11/26.  This road closure is necessary to allow for paving the E Cypress Road and Knightsen Avenue intersection.

Residents along this section of Knightsen Avenue will be granted permission to access the area from the south side of roadway closure. East Cypress Road will remain open at all times during this work.

East Cypress Road Widening From Knightsen Avenue to Bethel Island Road

The East Cypress Road Widening Project (ECRWP) between Knightsen Avenue to Bethel Island Road is a three-phased multi-year project. Phase 1 is Capital Improvement Project (CIP) 247, Phase 2 is CIP 310, and Phase 3 is CIP 302. The new roadway will be six lanes west of Jersey Island Road and four lanes east of Jersey Island Road. Project includes storm drain, water, sewer, median islands, landscaping, buffered bike lanes, sidewalks, streetlights, and 5 signalized intersections (4 new and 1 signal modification). Phase 2 of this project also includes a 10-foot diameter pipe Canal Undergrounding (Contra Costa Water District (CCWD) Segment 5A) at Jersey Island Road. Construction for Phase 1 began mid-July 2024 and is projected for completion in the winter of 2025. Access along East Cypress Road will be available at all times.
