by CC News

What started as a long-held vision is finally becoming a reality in downtown Lafayette on Sunday. For the team behind Vintage Vida, the idea of hosting a vintage market wasn’t an afterthought—it was always part of the dream.

“When we decided to open our brick-and-mortar vintage store two years ago, the market was already in our minds,” said Carmen Guerrero. “We just didn’t know exactly what it would look like yet—or how it would all come together.”

Now, that vision is taking shape as the event is set for

While the concept has been simmering for over a year, the real momentum began this past December after receiving the green light from their supportive neighbors at BMO Bank in downtown Lafayette. Since then, planning has been in full swing—transforming ideas into a vibrant, community-centered event.

Why Vintage, Why Now?

With makers markets popping up everywhere, choosing to focus exclusively on vintage might seem niche—but for Vintage Vida, it was both practical and obvious.

“Part logistics, part ‘no-brainer,’” explained Guerrero. “We’re working with a limited amount of space, and since we’re deeply immersed in the vintage world, it made sense to stay true to that.”

But this isn’t just any vintage market. It’s a carefully curated experience featuring some of the Bay Area’s best vintage dealers. Every item for sale will be authentically vintage—at least 25 years old—ensuring shoppers are discovering true pieces of the past.

The inaugural market will feature 26 vendors, each bringing their own unique slice of vintage culture. Visitors can expect an eclectic mix spanning decades and styles—from clothing and vinyl to home décor and collectibles.

Whether you’re a serious collector or just browsing, there’s something for everyone and of all ages.

Since announcing the event, the response has been overwhelmingly positive.

“It’s been wonderful,” shared Guerrero. “People are excited. There’s a real sense of anticipation building.”

In a time increasingly shaped by technology and AI, the appeal of vintage feels more meaningful than ever. Adding many are simply seeking a human experience.

“There’s something special about preserving well-made, tangible items from the past,” she shared. “These pieces can inspire future generations. And beyond that, the in-person connection—to objects, to people—is vital. Nostalgia plays a role too… reminding us of what might feel like simpler or better times.”

Make a Day of It in Lafayette

The market isn’t just a standalone event—it’s an invitation to explore Lafayette. Nestled among standout restaurants, unique boutiques, and lively local bars, Vintage Vida’s location makes it easy to turn a visit into a full day out.

“Come treasure hunt, shop, connect, and soak up good vibes,” she said.
