Brentwood Police Issue Statement on Yolanda Ramirez Coroners Inquest

BRENTWOOD, CA – On Friday, April 17, 2026, pursuant to Government Code section 27491.6, the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office notified the City of its decision to direct the Contra Costa County Office of the Sheriff to conduct an inquest into the October 3, 2025, death of Yolanda Ramirez.

On Monday, April 20, 2026, the Contra Costa County Office of the Sheriff confirmed that it will proceed with a formal coroner’s inquest.

The City of Brentwood and the Brentwood Police Department will continue to fully cooperate with the District Attorney’s Office and the Contra Costa County Office of the Sheriff throughout the inquest process. The City remains committed to transparency, accountability, and ensuring the community is informed as appropriate while respecting the integrity of the investigative process.

Requests for additional information regarding the coroner’s inquest process or the basis for initiating the inquest should be directed to the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office or the Contra Costa County Sheriff-Coroner’s Office.
