Oakley: Teacher Finds Student in Possession of Firearm at Freedom High School

The Oakley Police Department announced a student was in possession of a firearm on the campus of Freedom High School Wednesday.

According to police, today, at 3:16 PM, Oakley Police Officers were dispatched to Freedom High School on the report that a teacher found a student was in possession of a firearm. The teacher was able to secure the firearm away from the student prior to the arrival of the police officers.

The police officers worked with the school staff and took the student (17 year old male) into custody. They said they booked the student into Juvenile Hall for charges related to possession a loaded firearm in a designated school zone.

The city said school safety is of paramount importance to the City of Oakley and we will always work as hard as we can to ensure a safe environment on school campuses.
