WALNUT CREEK, Calif. –– Lindsay Wildlife Experience, the nation’s first wildlife hospital and interactive museum experience, today broke ground on Ky & Laura’s Nature Cove, an immersive new exhibit and educational space where seven of the museum’s non-releasable birds of prey, including a Golden Eagle, will be housed. This $2 million project will revitalize the museum’s footprint, a multi-sensory, outdoor, ADA-accessible space. The largest single expansion in its history.
“For more than 70 years, Lindsay Wildlife Experience has been the place to connect people with wildlife to inspire responsibility and respect for the world we share,” said Janet Kozlowski, Interim Executive Director. “Today we aren’t just moving dirt, rather we are ensuring the organization’s mission soars for future generations.”
Features of Ky & Laura’s Nature Cove at Lindsay Wildlife Experience include:
- Lifelong homes for seven non-releasable birds of prey, include a majestic golden eagle;
- California native plants;
- Comfortable seating areas;
- An ADA-accessible trail; and
- Children’s play structures.
DONATIONS
Lindsay Wildlife Experience relies heavily on the generosity of the community to fund its medical and operational costs. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, tax-deductible donations directly support the rehabilitation of over 5,000 wild patients treated annually at the first-of-its-kind veterinary hospital, provide daily care and enrichment for more than 70 resident animal ambassadors, and ensure continuation of education for the more than 50,000 children and adults who visit each year.
In an inspiring show of support, the William A. Kerr Foundation has pledged to match all donations to Lindsay Wildlife Experience, up to $50,000, amplifying the support from donors across the community.
