“I am honored to recognize Community Youth Center (CYC) for its unwavering commitment to empowering our youth,” said Assemblymember Ávila Farías. “Through mentorship, education, and athletics, this organization helps shape the future of our young people by providing them with life skills and a safe environment where they can grow and thrive. Today, and everyday, I am proud to celebrate their invaluable work.”

“Rooted in Concord and serving youth across the Bay Area, CYC empowers the next generation, helping over 2,000 children each year build discipline, confidence, and lifelong character. Guided by community support, volunteers, and local partnerships, CYC continues to inspire confidence, discipline, and resilience in every child who walks through its doors.
“This is the 11th year of the California Nonprofit of the Year initiative, a state-wide effort honoring the critical role nonprofit organizations play in California. Each year, state legislators choose a nonprofit from their district to be honored throughout the year, including at the Capitol in May.”
