Firefighters Battle 31 Acre Vegetation Fire in Pittsburg

On Friday, the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District battled a 31-acre vegetation in the City of Pittsburg.

The fire first broke out around 1:45 pm on John Henry Johnson Parkway with smoke showing on the hillside and by the time CONFIRE was on scene, smoke and flames were visible. Crews also had issues reaching the fire due to steep slopes and tight roads. By the time they arrived, the fire was 2-acres in size.

The fire jumped to 10 acres by 2:15 pm and the fire was upgraded to a 2-alarm vegetation fire response and 15-acres by 2:30 pm.

The fire was contained around 31 acres.
