There are several upcoming Juneteenth Celebrations and events around Contra Costa County in 2026.
What is Juneteenth?
Short for June Nineteenth, Juneteenth is a holiday celebrating the 1865 emancipation of enslaved African Americans in the United States– marking the day when federal troops arrived in Galveston, Texas to take control of the state and ensure the freedom of all remaining enslaved people. Texas became the first U.S. state to celebrate Juneteenth in 1979. Officially becoming a U.S. federal holiday in June of 2021, the City of Antioch is proud to present our fourth annual Juneteenth Celebration.

City of Antioch (June 19)
Celebrate this Juneteenth with the City of Antioch on June 19th from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Williamson Ranch Park! This annual city-sponsored Juneteenth Celebration is where we come together as a city to honor freedom, culture, and community. Join us for a day of reflection that showcases the richness of African American heritage as we embrace the vibrancy and resiliency of Black culture. Antioch: Let Freedom Ring Juneteenth Event
Join the 4 Ever Me Foundation at Paradise Skate Roller Rink (1201 W 10th Street) for its Juneteenth event from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm.
City of Brentwood (June 19)
Join the City of Brentwood on June 19th at 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm as they host their Juneteenth Celebration in the Park.
Headlining Brentwood’s Juneteenth Celebration: Grammy-nominated gospel powerhouse Kim Burrell. This is an event honoring Juneteenth with an evening of music, culture, and community. City of Concord (June 27)
Gather at Todos Santos Plaza in Concord (2175 Willow Pass Rd) on June 27 from 11:30 am to 5:30 pm for its Juneteenth Celebration. The event will feature food, vendors and performances.
City of Hercules (June 13)
Join the City of Hercules on June 13 at 10:00 am for its Juneteenth Celebration. The even it located at 109 Civic Drive. The city has partnered with the Hercules Library to bring a Juneteenth Celebration to the community. Festivities include:
- Raising the flag at the Civic Center
- Storytime
- Poetry
- Refreshments
- Fellowship
City of Martinez
4th Annual Juneteenth celebration at Waterfront Park! Join us Sunday, June 28th, from 11am – 2pm, to commemorate the abolishment of slavery in the US, as generations gather and acknowledge reunifying families after slavery with a hope of healing and having a better life. The City of Martinez is proud to sponsor this important community celebration of freedom and resilience
City of Oakley (June 13)
Join the City of Oakley for its Juneteenth Celebration on Saturday, June 13th, at Civic Center Plaza from 10:30 am to 1:00 pm! Craft vendors and nonprofit organizations will be open at Civic Center Plaza starting at 10:30 am. Stick around for the kickoff of the celebration at 11 am with speakers and performances by local groups and artists before Norman & The Boyz take the stage. Let’s come together to highlight and uplift Black voices within our community!
City of Pinole (June 14)
Celebrate Pride and Juneteenth with the City of Pinole on Sunday, June 14 from 12pm-2pm at Fernandez Park (595 Tennent Avenue). Join a meaningful and vibrant family-friendly event celebrating love, diversity, and belonging with performances, fun and engaging activities, and live music. Come and enjoy various delicious food trucks along with local vendors and community organizations sharing resources and information. Create a welcoming space for all ages to come together, commemorate, and celebrate!We are now accepting vendors to table at our event. City of Pittsburg (June 20)
Juneteenth is a time to honor freedom, reflect on our nation’s history, celebrate Black culture and achievement, and recognize the ongoing pursuit of equity and justice. I am proud to support the 15th Annual Pittsburg Juneteenth Freedom Day Celebration, a family-friendly event that brings our community together in celebration, reflection, and unity.

East Bay Regional Park District Celebrating Juneteenth
Juneteenth (June 19th) is the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States. Cultural events like Juneteenth celebrate the diversity of our nation and unify the community. The Park District is honoring Juneteenth this year with a Free Park Day on Friday, June 19, 2026, and naturalist-led public programs to celebrate and reflect. The District is committed to enhancing diversity, equity, and inclusion, and making our parks and agency more welcoming and reflective of the communities we serve.
Park District fees waived on Juneteenth include park entrance, parking, dogs, horses, boat launching, and fishing. However, the fee waiver does not apply to swimming, camping, reservable picnic facilities (due to capacity limits), District concessions, state fees for fishing licenses, and watercraft inspections for invasive mussels.
