The City of Richmond invites you celebrate freedom, culture, history, and community at Richmond’s annual Juneteenth Parade & Festival!
Juneteenth is a time for our community to come together in celebration of freedom, culture, history, and resilience. This year’s event will feature an exciting lineup of local talent, community organizations, food, art, and many different surprises throughout the day.

Honorees:
- Youth Grand Marshal: Ivan is an accomplished artist, actor, dancer, and creator whose talent, passion, and energy continue to inspire those around him. Through movement, performance, and storytelling, he represents the creativity and brilliance of Richmond’s next generation
- Youth Grand Marshal: From speaking at women’s empowerment summits to
facilitating youth workshops, Xa’viar Bennett is passionate about helping young people build confidence, embrace their voice, and walk boldly in their purpose. She is also expanding her creative career through acting, modeling, and film production — including walking in the Bay Area Black Fashion Expo Juneteenth Showcase and developing a short film that she is writing, producing, and starring in. - Grand Marshal: Fred Frankin is a volunteer community servant and event planner whose work has long supported Richmond’s Iron Triangle community. A graphic artist specializing in cartooning, he has spent more than 35 years creating donated logos, posters, T-shirt designs, and public art for grassroots organizations and social causes. His work has been exhibited locally and continues to celebrate community health, history,
and leadership through art. - Grand Marshall: Marena Brown has served the Contra Costa Youth Service Bureau since 1999 and was appointed Executive Director in 2023. A lifelong Richmond resident and dedicated community leader, she is known for her “Hattitude” and commitment to service. Brown has championed youth, neighborhood, faith- based, and civic initiatives for decades, serving on numerous boards and organizations while fostering
community engagement throughout Contra Costa County. - Lifetime of Service Award Recipient: Joe Fisher is the recipient of the Lifetime of Service Award in recognition of his leadership, entrepreneurship, and dedication to
the Richmond community. As associate publisher of the Richmond Post, he has used his photography and promotions to highlight local leaders, organizations, and efforts that strengthen Richmond. A lifelong Richmond resident, Joe has built successful businesses,
served as a real estate broker, and remained deeply involved in community service. He is President of the Coronado Neighborhood Council and a member of BAPAC, continuing his commitment to improving neighborhoods and uplifting Richmond residents.
