Overnight Full Closures of SR-4 Between Lone Tree Way and Walnut Blvd

CONTRA COSTA COUNTY — For the safety of the motoring public and our crews Caltrans Construction has scheduled full closures for ongoing paving operations on State Route 4 (SR-4), spanning from Hillcrest Avenue to Byron Highway to apply the final layer of Rubberized Hot Mix Asphalt (RHMA).

Full closures of SR-4 in both east and westbound directions will now take place beginning, Sunday June 21, 2026, between Lonetree Way, and Walnut Boulevard from 8:00 p.m. until 8:00 a.m., Monday, June 22, 2026,

  • Full Closure SR-4 Lonetree Way to Balfour Road, June 21, 2026, 8 p.m. to Midnight
  • Full Closure SR-4 Lonetree Way to Walnut Boulevard, June 22, 2026, Midnight to 8 a.m.
  • Westbound SR-4 will reopen at 5:00 a.m.

Please note: All scheduled work is weather dependent and subject to change.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Drivers should note that Lane and ramp closure will continue to take place on SR-4 every Sunday through Thursday night between the hours of 7:00 PM to 8:00 AM .
