BRENTWOOD, CA – On Wednesday, July 15, 2026, the Contra Costa County Office of the Sheriff Coroner conducted a coroner’s inquest into the October 3, 2025, death of Yolanda Ramirez.
In a coroner’s inquest, jurors select from four findings regarding the manner of death: accident; suicide; natural causes; or at the hands of another person, other than by accident. After viewing video evidence and hearing testimony from witnesses called by the Hearing Officer, the jury found the manner of death to be “accident.” By law, an inquest determines the manner of death only; it does not assign fault or civil or criminal liability.
The City of Brentwood and the Brentwood Police Department will continue to cooperate fully with the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office. The City’s concurrent administrative investigation, which was paused pending the District Attorney’s independent review, will resume once that review concludes.
No further statements will be provided at this time.
