On Wednesday, the Brentwood Union School District will hold a special meeting to discuss placing a school improvement bond on the November Ballot.
If the trustees agree, it would ask voters to support a bond levying approximately $16.56 per $100,000 assessed value which would raise $6.73 million per year. The bond would be in place until 2063-64. It will need 55% support to pass.
During the July 15 meeting, the Board of Trustees received its survey on how the bond would track with voters. The survey was conducted June 22-30 and 311 households were contacted.

Conclusions from the survey:
- Majority of voters believe the District provides an “Excellent” or “Good” education.
- Initial support for the measure was 54.2% Yes (2.4% Lean Yes), with 2.4% Undecided (SSB); after education support for the measure was 61.7% Yes (1.3% Lean Yes), with 2.3% Undecided.
- Voters were sensitive to tax rates tested, but support increased when cost was broken down by month.
- Strongest support for extending the tax rate.
- Support is above the 55% voter approval threshold; we recommend the District continue to reach out to and educate the community and plan on placing a bond measure on the November 2026 ballot.
Question to go before voters:
“To improve the quality of education; replace leaky roofs; make safety/security improvements; upgrade/modernize classrooms, restrooms and school facilities; renovate plumbing, HVAC, and sewer systems; and construct classrooms and new school; shall Brentwood Union School District’s tax rate extension measure be adopted, authorizing $120,000,000 of bonds, at legal rates, levying approximately $16.56 per $100,000 assessed value ($6,730,000 annually), while bonds are outstanding, with annual audits, independent oversight, NO money for administrator salaries or taken by the State?”
