One person was killed and another sustained moderate injuries in a vehicle-versus-motorcycle crash on Byron Highway Friday morning.
According to preliminary information, Contra Costa County Fire Protection District Firefighters responded to a report of a vehicle-versus-motorcycle collision in the area of Byron Highway and N. Bruns Road around 7:20 am. Initial reports indicated that the driver “flew threw the air” and the body was on the side of the road. A medical helicopter was requested.
Upon arrival, firefighters confirmed a vehicle crash with moderate damage. One person pronounced dead at the scene, while another sustained moderate injuries. The medical helicopter was requested to continue to the incident, with a landing zone established at the Byron Airport — ultimately an empty field near the skydiving facility.
