Antioch, CA — Hunter Hammett of Oakley won the Pacific Coast Hobby Stock Main Event Saturday night at Antioch Speedway. His fifth win of the season only slightly increased his point lead over Jewell Crandall of Antioch, who finished second.

This was also the Eighth Annual Antioch Speedway Hall of Fame Night, which saw Tom Abreu, Len Mello, Sal Belleci, Rob Waldrop, Ed Shepherd, Bob Hansen, Ron Floyd and Scott Compton get inducted into the Hall of Fame during intermission.

Hammett and Grayson Baca of Brentwood used their heat race wins to earn front row starting spots for the feature. Baca charged into the lead at the start ahead of Hammett and Crandall. Hammett made a low move in Turn 4 of the fourth lap to take the lead from Baca, and Dan Larkey of Lagunitas hit the Turn 4 wall for a Lap 5 yellow flag. Hammett continued to lead Baca on the restart. Baca made a high pass in Turn 2 of the eighth lap, but Hammett stayed strong on the inside exiting Turn 4 and maintained the lead by the time the lap was completed. Paul Deluca of San Jose spun in Turn 2 for a Lap 9 yellow flag.

Hammett maintained the lead on the restart ahead of Baca and Crandall. Aidan Ponciano of Oakley went high in Turn 4 to take third from Crandall on Lap 11, but Crandall maintained her momentum on the inside in Turn 2 to regain the position the next lap. Hammett and Baca pulled away a little bit in the battle for the lead, but a yellow flag flew on Lap 14 for Chris Long of Antioch in Turn 4.

Hammett maintained his advantage over Baca on the next two restarts, but a yellow flag for Maddie Motts and Kevin Brown of Oakley brought out a final yellow flag on Lap 17. Hammett led the single final restart with Crandall slipping past Baca for second. Hammett went on to victory ahead a Crandall, Baca, Ponciano and Josh Appelbaum of Antioch.

Anthony Slaney of Martinez won the 20 lap Xtreme Late Model Main Event. This was the third win of the season for the 2024 champion as he gained valuable ground on incoming point leader Rod Oliver of Yuba City, who failed to finish for the first time this season.

Slaney led the opening lap before a yellow flag waved for Ryan DeForest of Livermore on the frontstretch. Slaney would lead the next four restarts after yellow flags waved for various incidents. Track officials went with a single file restart on Lap 5, and Slaney led Clark Guglielmoni of Vacaville and reigning champion Shawn DeForest of Livermore when the green flag waved. An inside move on the frontstretch on Lap 8 put Paul Guglielmoni into third on Lap 8, but Shawn DeForest came charging back on the outside down the frontstretch a lap later.

Paul Guglielmoni again made an inside pass in Turn 2 on Lap 10 to reclaim third. At that point, Slaney had built a big advantage over Clark Guglielmoni, but a yellow flag waved on Lap 12 when Oliver stalled at the Turn 1 exit. Slaney led Clark Guglielmonti and Paul Guglielmoni on the final restart, and they finished in that order. DeForest made a last turn pass to claim fourth from Ray Trimble of Auburn, who settled for fifth.

Troy Foulger of Oakley won the 20 lap IMCA Modified Main Event after winning the eight lap heat race earlier in the evening. This was the fourth feature triumph for Foulger this season and the 92nd win of his Antioch Speedway career. With a second place finish, Oakley’s Andrew Pearce held on to his slim advantage to win the track championship.

Foulger charged into the lead at the start ahead of Pearce and Watsonville Speedway champion Jim Pettit II of Prunedale. A yellow flag waved for Antioch’s Gary Hetrick in Turn 4 after just one lap, but Foulger continued to lead Pearce and Pettit on the restart. Clark Guglielmoni made an inside pass on the frontstretch on Lap 5 to take third from Pettit. Foulger set a good pace at the front of the pack and put some distance between himself and Pearce by the time the checkered flag flew. Pearce had a comfortable hold on second at the finish, followed by Gugliemoni, Pettit and Tyler Browne of Antioch.

Bo Crebs of Yreka won the 20 lap IMCA Sport Modified Main Event. This was only his fourth visit to Antioch Speedway and first since April. Crebs had earlier won his eight lap heat race and led all the way for his future triumph aboard the Jerry Movrich owned entry.

Crebs led at the green flag ahead of Alfred Johnson of Antioch. Previous winner Jason Ryan Jr of Oakley slipped into third on Lap 2, and a yellow flag waved for James Graessle of Antioch on Lap 8. Ryan raced past Johnson for second on the restart as Crebs continued to set the pace. A Turn 4 tangle involving State point leader Jeff Bentancourt of Brentwood, Mark Garner of Antioch and Kelly Campanile of Oakley brought out a Lap 12 yellow flag. Crebs continued to lead Ryan on the restart. Trevor Clymens of Brentwood briefly gained third, but he surrendered the position to Al Johnson of Antioch a lap later.

Following a Lap 14 yellow flag for Alfred Johnson in Turn 3, Crebs led Ryan and Al Johnson on the restart. Garner used a low pass in Turn 4 on Lap 16 to take third from Johnson, but he surrendered the position to Watsonville champion Danny Wagner of Bay Point two laps later. Crebs held a half-straightaway advantage over Ryan at the checkered flag as Wagner, Al Johnson and point leader Fred Ryland of Brentwood rounded out the Top 5.

Kenneth Robles of Rio Vista picked up the win in the 20 lap IMCA Stock Car Main Event. He had a brief battle with poitnt leader Fred Ryland of Brentwood before mechanical issues sidelined Ryland. This was the second win of the season for Robles.

Dave Hill of San Francisco led the opening lap before an inside pass on the backstretch gained Kenneth Robles the lead. Jason Robles of Rio Vista went low in Turn 4 and took second from Hill. Ryland made an outside pass on Hill for third and went high in Turn 2 of the sixth lap to take second from Jason Robles. A yellow flag waved on Lap 6 for rookie Nick Friend of Galt. Kenneth Robles continued to set the pace on the restart ahead of Ryland and Jason Robles. The lead duo pulled away from the pack with Ryland taking looks to the inside. A low move in Turn 4 of the 12th lap gained Ryland some momentum, and the lead two cars crossed the start/finish line in a dead heat. Moments later, Ryland lost power in Turn 2.

Kenneth Robles led his father Jason Robles and Hill on the restart, but Hill made an inside pass in Turn 4 on Lap 14 to claim second. Friend made an inside pass on the front stretch on Lap 16 to briefly claim second, but Hill went low in Turn 4 to regain the position a lap later. Kenneth Robles had a straightaway advantage at the checkered flag as Hill crossed the finish line in second ahead of Jason Robles, Friend and Scott Foster of Oakley.

Racing resumes next Saturday night with the Fourth Annual Panfili Cup race for the Wingless Spec Sprints. The race will also pay $1,000 to win and $150 minimum to start. The IMCA sanctioned Sport Modifieds and Stock Cars will have their Championship Night, joined by the Pacific Coast Hobby Stocks, BCRA Lightning Sprints and 600 Micro Sprints.
