MARTINEZ, Calif. — Two local organizations dedicated to helping individuals and families who struggle to meet their basic needs such as food, housing and utilities, are teaming up on the courts this fall. On Saturday, September 19, 2026, St. Vincent de Paul of Contra Costa County and Loaves and Fishes of Contra Costa will host “The Big La Bocce” Charity Tournament at the Martinez Bocce Ball Courts, located at 245 N. Court Street.
The joint fundraiser brings players and community members together for a friendly day of play to support vital safety-net services across the East Bay. Every dollar raised will help provide warm meals, emergency clothing, shelter support, and free medical care for people and families in need.
“When community needs grow, working together is the best way we can help,” said Claudia Ramirez, Executive Director of St. Vincent de Paul of Contra Costa County. “Partnering with Loaves and Fishes allows us to touch more lives with kindness and dignity. This tournament is about much more than a friendly game, it is about making sure our neighbors always have a safe place to turn.”
Players must pre-register at https://tinyurl.com/CharityBocce2026. Players of all skill levels, from experienced players to beginners, are welcome. In addition to the games, players and spectators can enjoy:

- Silent Auction: Packages featuring local experiences, wine, and community gifts.
“Too many families right here in our community are struggling to keep food on the table,” said Janette Kennedy, Executive Director of Development and External Relations at Loaves and Fishes of Contra Costa. “This tournament is a wonderful way for all of us to come together. It gives everyone a chance to enjoy a great day outdoors while providing real, immediate help to people who need it most.”
