Martini Shake Off

The Martini Shake-Off, a signature event for the Martinez Chamber of Commerce has been cancelled.

Citing low ticket sales, the September 12 event has been cancelled after 16 years of celebrating the birthplace of the Martini.

The event allows those in attendance to watch some of the region’s most talented mixologists compete for Best Martini and the coveted People’s Choice Award, serving up creative cocktails for guests to taste and enjoy throughout the evening.

According to the chamber, in a letter from President/CEO Aaron Alencastre, the chamber had every intention of continuing the tradition with this years event, however, ticket sales the past few years have trended down and ticket sales for this years event have not reached the level needed for them to move forward.

He further explained as the event grew, so did the size and scope which increased costs.

Alencastre said the chamber will explore new events, programs and services that reflect the changing needs and interests of the business community and provide new ways to bring people together, supporting businesses and celebrating the City of Martinez.

Anyone who purchased tickets or reserved tables will see a refund in the coming days.
